  1. Hello Peter, on top of the info provided by Tom, I used the schema below. Though it is for the Kodiaq, I assume the colors are the same:
  2. 🙂 Anyway, for the people not good at searching like you, worthy to link this post with the one where I have provided more info:
  3. Good idea Dave, I will give it a try changing slightly the position.
  4. Ciao Tom, I have just done the same work on my Kodiaq, with exactly the same subwoofer (you might have seen some questions of mine about the same in some old post). I have tapped the wires on the back of the head unit, but this took a lot of time (you must remove the glovebox as well, forget the idea it would be enough to extract the head unit only) and a lot of attention not to break any plastic mechanism; if I had to do it again it would take much less now, but it is definitely not straightforward the first time. Because to hide the wires going under the seat I had to remove anyway the plastic frame covering the door sill, I have eventually understood it would have been much easier to tap the wires directly from there, as the rear speakers wires are easily accessible; and this plastic frame comes out easily, just pushing it out, so no need to access Pillar B. In conclusion I strongly advise you to do this way. In my Kodiaq I have managed to find fuse F48 in the internal fuse box that was free and connected (not all the ones you see free are actually connected). It was originally thought for the “Control unit for lane change assist -J769”, that I don’t have, and it is under ignition key, so perfect for me. I have put the subwoofer in the passenger seat, on the front side. Unfortunately there is bar that splits the space in two parts, you cannot really use the full space under the seat; in all cases it disappears and it is not visible. As final outcome the sound is definitely more “solid” on the lower frequencies, but don’t expect dramatic improvements, also considering the standard sound is quite decent, at least comparing it with my old Skoda Superb SW II. I hope this helps. Massimo
  5. Hello, I know, it is the least of the problems given the situation we are all living, but is anybody of you experiencing creaks and squeaks in the steering wheel? Not evident while driving of course because of the noise (though the car is quite silent), but when parking in the garage it is really annoying, especially considering the car is still new (only around 1.000 KM). Is there anything I can do to fix it? Massimo
  6. Thank you for the feedback. Ok, I will search better for a suitable fuse that is not permanently live, hoping it exists in the internal fuse-box.
  7. Anyone for this question? The question is, where to take this power switch signal? Does the head unit, that I will need to access anyway to take the signals from left/right speakers, have also a cable that might serve the purpose?
  8. Hello, I have identified in the fuse box inside the car (under the steering wheel) a fuse that I believe suits well because it is 30A and it is dedicated to heated rear window, that as far as I might remember I have never used in ten years with my previous Skoda. It is the F53 fuse in the picture below. The only drawback it is that it is "always on", so not connected to ignition key; by the way, also the other fuses with big capacities (from 15A to 30A) are always on. This shouldn't be a blocking problem because the subwoofer has a (blue/white) cable that can be used just as power switcher and should be connected to the ignition key switch AA position line. The question is, where to take this switch signal? Does the head unit, that I will need to access anyway to take the signals from left/right speakers, have also a cable that might serve the purpose? P.S. Apologies, I cannot remove the 2nd picture, duplictaed
  9. In all cases thank you so much for your support. Also the post about Dash Camera installation is great, it provides already a lot of info that will be useful in case I will decide to install everything on my own. By the way, just ordered the Kenwood online few minutes ago.... so in a way or another I will install it! 🙂
  10. these are the specifications for the Kenwood: Maximum power output (4Ω) 150W x 1 Low-pass Filter 50~125 Hz Frequency response (+0dB, -3dB) 35Hz ~ 150Hz Operating voltage 14.4V (11V ~ 16V allowable) Maximum current consumption 8.5A I am not really aware if the consumption specified above requires a direct wiring with battery or not.
  11. Hello, as you might have seen from my first message when I created the post I was about to receive the car. Now that I have been playing with it for more than one month I can definitely state that the stock stereo/speakers sounds better than the one in my previous Superb SW; actually much better I would say, pleasantly surprised. So in conclusion I have decided I will go for a minimum upgrade, that is just the addition of a subwoofer. Looking at the less invasive options I have evaluated some models to put in the spare wheel and others to put under the front seats. I am in favor of the ones under the seat, for instance Kenwood KSC-SW11 or Pioneer TS-wx130ea (enough similar in performance and size); I have created a cartoon model of the same size and it fits perfectly under the passenger font seat. Question for the most experts. I will need to wire a power cable from the battery through the engine firewall. Is there any "hole" available/known through the firewall I can exploit? Otherwise I will go to a car audio shop for the installation....
  12. Ok, I respond to myself. Looking at other posts I have understood that limitations to the covers' size indeed exist. It was 200kb in some old models (around 500x500 pixels), it might be a bit bigger in the last models (it seems new Amundsen supports till 800x800). A bit disappointing, considering that one is using the same media library on many different devices, not only the car... but this it it.
  13. Yes, 500x500 works for me as well. But also 560x560 (not tried many till 1000x1000), so for sure 500x500 is not the upper limit (if it really exists). I would like just to avoid to remap the covers in thousands of files... I am also using MP3tags by the way.
  14. Hello! Searched in the forum about the topic, but I was not able to find anything, so apologies if it has been already discussed. I have just realized that my Bolero system in my new Skoda Kodiaq does not visualize many MP3's covers. My music is all perfectly tagged and embedding the covers in the files and I wouldn't have expected any difference among the files. Accidentally I have discovered that files not showing the cover have a cover's size of 1000x1000 or more (note: all the covers, regardless of the resolution, are squared). So the question is: is there any known limitation to the size of the covers that the system is able to visualize? Ciao, Massimo
  15. First, thank you all for the feedback. What I like of the original removable one is that it works like a normal car's light when you open the boot, but at the occurence you can take it out to do some work. But indeed, because two standard (fixed) lamps are already in the boot, the fast and easy solution for other purposes would be to stick somewhere a lamp like the one proposed from Lidl.
  16. Thank you Kenny for the full list! So I am a victim of cost reduction 🙂 Still lucky, based on the list, that I have still two umbrella and four bag hooks in the boot! Ok, at this point my questions about adding the removable torch is still valid. Appreciated if anybody could share their thoughts about it. Thank you, Massimo
  17. Hello Briskoda community! Just got my new Kodiaq 1.5 TSI (quartz gray) and still in the phase of understanding what is in and what is out when it comes to accessories. To clarify the statement above, it is because in the local market here they are selling a special version called "Executive", but it is not the Executive version you have in many countries; here the standard versions in the Catalogue are either Ambition or Style, with no other version in the middle. So what they call Executive is simply an Ambition with some special accessories, namely 18'' wheels (Trinity with anthracite design, very nice but I assume difficult to fix in case of scratches), interior with seats half fabric half leather and other minor "amenities". I have discovered I am missing two features I was giving for granted in any version: the protections for the door, those pieces of rubber that come out automatically when the door is open the removable torch in the boot! Are these two features excluded in any Ambition version maybe? While I don' care at all about the doors' protection (actually I know it is giving problems to many after a while), I am really disappointed about the removable torch, as it was the most used accessory in my previous Skoda Superb. At its place there is just a plastic cap; I have opened it, but as expected there is no cable behind it. Do you believe I can mount one on my own? I know it is usually on the left side, but similar cap is also on the right side and I could maybe connect it to the 12V plus, that is just very close. Does this torch exist as spare part? Online I am able to find the one for the Skoda Superb, but none for the Kodiaq. Is it the same? Massimo
  18. Thank you for the feedback Winston. There must be some logic for keeping this information so "secret", I cannot understand why such a basic spec is not openly shared by the manufacturer. I agree that if stock speakers are decent I will maybe just try to fit an active subwoofer somewhere, even inside the spare wheel (I noticed there are many alternatives like Canton in the market). Anyway, just to share some info about the topic that can be useful to other people, I have contacted the guys from www.basser.pl because they sell customized woofer boxes for most of the cars, but unfortunately they haven't worked yet on any Kodiaq, so they don't have it available for our car. Anyone else about Bolero power specifications? Ciao, Massimo
  19. Hello everybody! I will get my new Skoda Kodiaq 1.5 TSI this week and one of the things I will have to sort it out immediately is how to update its sound system. I wanted really to go for the Canton (not so much for the quality of its components, but because I would have got the car already properly wired), but I had to take a car already available and registered by the shop, so I could not apply for this option. Question. Does anybody know the official power in output from Bolero sound system? This question is key to understand if : 1. I can go just for new speakers + active subwoofer 2. I will need to introduce a new amplifier/DSP, similarly to the Canton setup. Thank you! Massimo
  20. Hello, not completely new in this community, as I had an account some years ago, but I could not find it the details any longer. Anyway, owner of a Skoda Superb combo TD (140HP) in the last 9 years and about to get (hopefully this week) a new Skoda Kodiaq 1.5 TSI. So happy to join again the team, hoping I will post only positive things about my new car (it was/it is like this for my Superb, never a problem)! Ciao! Massimo
