  1. What ‘must have’ extras did you guys go with so that you had to order so early?
  2. Good luck with the car. Hope you get it when you want it. Mine is at Dealer now and will be collecting on 28/03. Will mean we have an ‘extra’ car for a month before lease car goes back, but saves the ~£600 tax increase.
  3. Hi, The non-Škoda selling dealer you are buying from will not impact the warranty....as long as it has been serviced on time and with factory specification parts and evidence to prove (if previously serviced by non-Škoda dealer too) The warranty will cover any manufacturing defects up to 3yrs. You don’t need to take it back to the selling dealer; and franchised Škoda (Service) Dealer will be able to carry out the repairs under warranty. Back sure you get any problems investigated and fixed in the warranty period and then invest in the extended warranty if you are risk-adverse. Owning the car for a year will give you confidence that you have bought the right car and not one that has a number of issues. Good luck.
  4. Hey carkus They are built in Czech Republic I believe. We we in similar position and wife opted for a compromise on options. The rear camera is currently available as a dealer retro-fit for £599 I believe.
  5. Thanks for sharing - Interesting site and useful to track logistic movements. As a matter of interest what tracking detail, or gateways, would you ideally want to see post order? E.g. Build scheduled for wk xx car in build car build complete car at port of departure ready for loading car on route to port car at port of arrival car on route to dealer car at dealer PDI completed car ready Do I recall correctly that VW make this sort of information available in the past to customers that have an order in progress? Do other car companies offer something similar? Seems a pity that interested customers have to chase car companies or dealers for updates.
  6. An OEM will refuse a warranty claim if the faulty part has been modified itself or has been otherwise affected by another part that is non-standard. Similarly maintenance items or lubricants should meet the same specifications as the OEM parts to ensure the warranty is maintained. A window seal fault will be honoured irrespective of a remap. If there was push back by the dealer or Skoda UK, they should clearly explain how they arrived at the decision that a remap has caused the fault so that it is not covered by the warranty. Generally, an OEM will usually rely on the dealer to make any technical diagnosis, but they can get it wrong. This may be especially true for new models when a fault has occurred that is not common or is yet to be identified by the OEM and a technical bulletin has not been issued to the network so dealers don't aren't aware of it.
  7. Sure. Quite agree. The selection/handover process from leasing co.s and brokers generally lacks the quality of a dealer ‘experience’ but the expectation is that the information provided from them is accurate so you know what you are getting. These additional charges that creep in are unwelcome and create a great deal of angst when you’ve committed to something and the goalposts change and you need to dig deeper into your pockets.
  8. I don’t think you should assume this. I had spoken to a couple of leasing companies and their prices were not adjusted and they were not aware (or chose to market at the lower price). For the model my wife wanted (SEL 1.5TSi DSG) there were 25 in the country or In-build & available before 1 April at the time of ordering 3 weeks ago, so she went with one of those to secure the lower price.
  9. Also whilst I think about it.....if you are not aware, the WLTP CO2 calculation is more complicated than NEDC. WLTP is calculated due to a number of factors including wheel size, aerodynamics and weight. If you take a standard car and load it up with factory options, e.g. wheel size, sunroof or tow bar etc that alter the calculation, the WLTP value will be different for YOUR CAR vs the standard car. The Škoda UK configurator appears to calculate the WLTP CO2 value as you complete the spec of your configured car. This CO2 is what will determine the tax band not the standard model’s CO2. This is worth knowing if your car is borderline between the tax bands and you specify lots of options as it could tip it over into a higher band.
  10. Apologies. I am on holiday at the moment without my laptop so don’t have the pdf of the data sheet or the transcript of the Škoda UK live chat available that confirmed this. Also, If this model was 1g/km lower at 170g/km it would have dropped into the lower band and would be over £300 less.
  11. That’s correct TeeDeeEye. An increase of £645 from £210 to £855 for the new applicable tax band from 1st April.
  12. Hi Carcus you are 100% correct on what you say. I have sourced a car for pre-Apr ref to avoid the ‘showroom tax’ increase. Under the new WLTP rates the 1.5TSi DSG increases from 136 to 171g/km so will be £855 from £210. The lease companies I spoke to before committing weren’t aware until I prompted them. Škoda considers this to be a government tax so the increase is payable by the customer not them.
  13. I’ve just ordered the same model: SEL 1.5 TSi DSG (Dec 19 build & Mar 20 delivery) and both the dealer and Skoda UK have confirmed that the transmission is DQ381 NOT DQ200.
