  1. Hi, The current Mrs Pigfarmers 05 plate 1.9 PD has in the last couple of weeks developed a bit of a problem. Bimbling along it's fine, push the throttle and it hesitates, misfires and chucks out a dose of smoke (black through to grey) and gets going, but it does feel slightly underpowered (mind you I'm used to my vRS). We've changed the fuel filter and put a shot of injector cleaner through, but no improvement. Fuel economy is still the same, no sucking noises, local garage VAGCOM showed NO recorded faults. MAF, turbo & DMF were replaced a couple of years ago. Anyone got any ideas ?
  2. 40 with a vRS - A sensible middle aged mans estate car. Had first Octy at 32 a TDI SLX.
  3. Four polar bears die every time I start the getaway wagon. Do I care ? Not really, You can have SOOOOOOO much more fun with a :DvRS:D than you can with a polar bear. However, to be serious, a 2000 Range Rover 4. whatever at 16 mpg is going to be cheaper to tax than a vRS, makes sense in our modern twisted world. And remember, the CO2 values used for taxation are taken at 30 mph, if you travel at 60 mph the emissions per kilometer driven are about 60% of those at 30. (sorry about mixing units there). So, as I have said before, build dual carrigeways and save the planet.
  4. I'm running straight 95 at the moment because I don't seem to go anywhere to buy 98/99 and it does stop me playing at inopportune moments, but, and this has been posted on several other threads here, Normal ULG - it works ave 34.5mpg Tesco premium - lively ave 35.2mpg V-Power - Much better ave 36.5mpg BUT Total Excellium - STUNNING .........AND..............41.1mpg This was worked out using tankfulls, not too much mixing, and the back of a fag packet. I really do like the Excellium, but the nearest garage selling it round here is 25 miles away, I don't get it very often. But ULG is good for bimbling about.
  5. Remember to get the water pump changed at the same time. I work on a 40K interval, terrible cambelt paronoia I know, but cheaper than a new engine.
  6. Looks a very good repair. Recommend the garage ?
  7. Be prepared for a struggle to get it in, unless you've got long thin arms. Esp. if the leads into it are on the right (when looking from front) & be prepared for fiddling. Remove glovebox before starting.
  8. Mines the other way round. Bimbling about and 5th is a sod to get into sometimes. Drive like a Finnish rally driver and its fine. 2nd gear is lumpy going in - just the same as my siroccos, golfs, in fact, EVERY FWD VAG car I've ever driven.
  9. Bummer. Hope you're OK. Must be the cloaking device fitted to red Octys. If anyone knows where the off switch is I'll be V V V happy.
  10. Here it is.... 11. I did the maths on here somewhere before, and I think VP was economically viable. I'll have a look....
  12. Change it ASAP, including the water pump, and you were of course on the way home from Germany on an unrestricted autobahn. You never know when the BiB are poking about !!!!!
  13. I'll have another. On second one now, SWMBO has one as well. Niggly faults, DIRE dealerships, but you'd get the same with a VW. PSA group flog crap with worse cust. service Ford fair cars, strange warranty cover, curious servicing practices, odder salesmen Stick to what you know
