Car is now sold

Ok, would rather it goes to someone from here than go for scrap. will give it til weekend before doing anything else with it.

Price negotiable for this car. If no interest here in next few days will try ebay.

The ad for my skoda octavia estate 4x4 is on the cars for sale board with photos now. Giving it a shot at selling on here. If i dont sell may try ebay or if nec will scrap. I would think shes worth having if only for parts. Mot til July.

MOT til 18/7/24 Has done over 260000 miles Had a hard life as I have dogs and horses so been a workhorse. Had a new alternator in Feb this year. Had cam belt done in 2020. Has been in daily use til last weekend when I got another car. Starts and runs ok. Inside is quite tatty due to dogs and horses! There is some rust and body work has some scratches etc especially passenger side where someone keyed it. Wheel arches have some rust, drivers door has a dent/ scratch due to being filled before I owned it. I think would need some welding to pass another mot. It would need some work to pass another mot. There are some rattles which I am told is something to do with the anti roll bar but I have no idea. Since the alternator was replaced and the battery was disconnected something strange has happened to electric windows. They will open with the remote on key but not on switch on door. They will close on door switch. This is a honest advert and the car has done a lot of miles. Due to its age and mileage do not expect a perfect car! Sold as seen. Has a lot of receipts for work done over the last 7 years since I have owned it. Its been a good reliable car and I will be sad to see it go . Spares or repair I guess. I do not know much about cars but will do my best to answer any questions. Please note this is a old car whos had a hard life. Putting here to see if anyone interested. Ok, Let me know if you have any questions. Its a blue 2008 1.9 tdi. 4x4 mot til end of july. running and been in use until last weekend when I got another car. Bodywork not in the best condition. As I have dogs and horses inside is a bit scruffy but Im going to clean in next few days . Let me know if interested otherwise I will be advertising on here in next few days once I have cleaned and taken photos.

I have bought a new car so will be advertising the old girl once I have given her a clean up.

Sorry, Missed 0! Think I will advertise on here next week if all goes well. If I thought it worth getting through another mot I would keep as running ok at the moment. Shes had a hard life but always been reliable. If I dont sell I will scrap myself but think def worth more than £200 they have offered to PX.

Think I will advertise it myself rather than PX. I think someone who can work on it may well get another 12 months out of it. Its got to have parts worth having to someone if not. Will be sad to see her go shes been a good workhorse..

The garage that offered PX said he would only get £100 scrap. I think I would get about £300 if I scrap myself.... I would rather it goes to someone who would either use parts or do some work and get another mot. Still running well and I am using for work daily until I replace. I guess I just do not want any comebacks if I sell privately because not in the best condition and high mileage. still got 3 months mot. Would sell as seen though. Think I will advertise on here when Im ready then. Think just testing the water. I think def worth more than PX offered!

Thank you, Just was not sure anyone would want her. I have had her 8 years and apart from a few ups and downs has been a great runner and I am still using until I get another car possibly in next few weeks.

Hello, The time is coming for me to part with my octavia 4x4 2008. Shes been a great workhorse. Has done 26000+ miles. Has had a hard life. Body work getting rough etc recently had a new alternator. Mot til July would def need work to pass another. I have dogs and horses so inside is not great. Been offered £200 px Better to px for £200 or scrap or sell to someone? Im not a car person but would anyone want her??

Member reports unable to select gears. Attended vehicle and found worn spline on gear selector arm that sits on gear selector rod. Managed to re secure using washer to clamp together. Gears now selecting okay. Followed member back home all okay member to take to local on tuesday. This is the report from Rac.

Thanks I have had a look on ebay but confused as to what part I need. As I said I know nothing about cars and all Rac man said was its the gear selector arm. He did show me the part which seemed to be a flat piece of metal with holes in which he said was worn. He has managed to fix it for me to get home but he can not say how long it will hold so need to get fixed asap. Obviously this weekend is difficult with Bank hol. I will have to ring Garages on Tues but Rac man did say it might have to be a main dealer part! I have Rac report which I will read later to see if it gives any clues as too which part as I would order one from ebay if I could find the right part. Its made worse as the mechanic I have used for years has just retired!

Hello, Looking for advise please. Had to get Rac this afternoon as I could not get a gear, Apparently its the gear selector arm. Lovely Rac man managed to get me going with a temp fix but I need a new gear selector arm. As its a bank hol weekend I am a bit stuck but Rac man said I may have to get from main dealer? I really do not know anything about cars and could do with some help with were to get this part at a reasonable price. This is a old high mileage car so dont want to be paying a fortune from main dealer if I can help it. Obviously with this weekend being bank hol Im a bit stuck for ringing garages etc til Tues and need to get back on the road as soon as possible. Could anyone advise on this part please.

Thank you, I will try the wd 40 later. I have it booked at a auto locksmith later. I dont think I could attempt to repair it myself. I am no mechanic sadly, (female 50s and very little knowledge of cars other than what I have picked up over the years of driving) will see what the locksmith says later. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hello, Please forgive my lack of knowledge here. I know very little about cars. Firstly. My skoda failed the mot today on a few issues. Mainly rubber parts, gaiters ball joint etc Im in process of getting quotes and deciding if its worth getting work done or scrap it its done 24000 miles so it is well worn! rough quote is £300ish On top of this today of all days the key has decided that its going to play up. It goes in ignition ok but is difficult to turn to start. So far it has started but I dont know how long for. Rang a auto key place and they say almost certain to be a steering lock problem and quoted £300. Does this seem right? It could be the straw that breaks the camels back really as its not worth much but needs a bit of work. I like the car and can not afford a great deal for a replacement car at the moment. Please be gentle here as I really dont know much about cars at all and I am really in a dilemma here.
