  1. Thanks for the replies. I will investigate further!
  2. Hi Folks. I am the proud owner of a 73 Plate Superb 2.0 tsi L&K model. On recent journeys, probably due to the fact that the weather is now colder, there are some "interesting" noises coming from the face level vent area. If the vents are closed and the aircon and climate control is on automatic, there can suddenly be a loud-ish whistling noise coming from the vents. Sounds like a sound effect for a haunted house on a windy night. This stops if I open the vents, but then if it is cold you don't want this vent open. Sounds like something isn't completely closing. Then, continuing the haunted house theme, there are occasionally some dull thumping noises coming from the same vent area. I assume these are all sounds from the various servos and flaps doing their work directing and controlling the airflow. But my question is, should these noises be so noticeable? My previous Superb (a 16 plate SEL) made similar whistling noises, but not as loud, and I never heard any of the thumping noises. I would be loathe to let the dealer start pulling the dashboard apart as, sorry to say, I wouldn't be confident that it would be put back together properly. Just wondering if anyone else has come across this and has any suggestions?
  3. Update on this subject from me. I confirm the coasting only occurs when driving normally - not in Cruise control. Now that I know it is happening I am less concerned about it. Thanks for all the comments.
  4. Thanks! They must have done mine twice as I've got a bigger one and a smaller one!
  5. Sorry - Green and yellow! But same question.
  6. Hi Folks. I am on a voyage of discovery with my latest Superb. She is a late 2023 L&K 2.0 Tsi hatch. There are two stickers, one blue and one yellow on the reverse side of the rear view mirror. I assume this is not signaling Skoda's support for Ukraine, being blue and yellow, but does anyone know why they are there? Thanks if anyone knows. I hope it's not a daft question.
  7. I didn't know that. Clever stuff!
  8. I am sure that there has to be a saving travelling downhill. Regarding Gax's question. I can't honestly remember with certainty if I had ACC on, but I would not just take my foot off the accelerator unless I was, so I think I must have been. I was on the more northerly parts of the M6 which was quiet by today's standards, and cruising along and glanced down at the rev counter and realised it was showing idle speed and no gear number was indicated. At that point I touched the throttle and the revs and gear came back up to what I would have expected. I am going on another motorway trip on Monday so I will check and see what's happening. One thing I would say about the DSG box is that the changes are very smooth going up and down the box on a straight road, but when it comes to it selecting gears itself through traffic it does seem to select a lower gear than I would have done manually, and this can lead to a jerky ride. EG approaching a left turn off a major road on to a smaller road. I could certainly do the same journey , and pull up to a full stop smoother with a manual box. I know it is a very different technology with different pro's and cons, but the 20 year old ZF auto box in my Jag is incredibly smooth in its changes.
  9. Hi all. Does anyone know where I can find a link to a user manual for the Canton sound system and satnav in a 2023 L&K 2.0 tsi? Thank you in anticipation.
  10. Thanks for the tip Travs. I will do that in future. MikkyTee - wouldn't it be easier just to switch off the start stop system using the switch next to the gear lever?
  11. Interesting feedback! To be honest I was completely surprised by this feature as I didn't realise it was a thing. I only noticed because the revs dropped and the gear indicator indicated I wasn't in any gear at all! I can live with it though. One thing I am less happy with is stop start. I can see the need for that when you are sat at traffic lights or in a predictable queue. But otherwise I now turn it off. I hate it when you are waiting to do a right turn, and you ease up to the white line, wait..... and then the bloody engine switches off, so you then have a delay when you want to turn. Last week we were in the Lake District. As many of you will know, the A66 is mainly a national speed limit , very busy road with numerous entrance points from smaller roads. If you are entering a 60mph road from a standing start then you need to pay extra attention. When a suitable gap appears, the last thing you need is the delay as the engine has to re-start. Anybody else agree with me?
  12. Thanks for the explanation Travs. I sort of guessed it is all to do with emissions, but we were always told never to put the car in to manual and coast for safety and stability reasons. I assume the car would only enter this coasting mode under very specific circumstances. Not going down a hill with bends for example!
  13. Hi folks. I took my new to me 73 plate 2.0 tsi L&K for its first long motorway run this week. I noticed that under certain cruising conditions the revs drop down to tick over and the gear indicator goes from 7th to nothing at all. As soon as I touched the throttle 7th indicated and the revs came back up to normal for 70mph in 7th. Is the car effectively coasting under these circumstances?
  14. Thanks. Yes you are right. I somehow missed this before. Thanks for the advice and link. I will get on to it.
  15. Hi again helpful Skoda folk. I have posted a couple of questions recently and received really good answers, on my upgrade from a 2016 SEL to a 2023 L&K. Another thing that I would like to ask is on the subject of importing music to the car. My old SEL had a CD slot, and 2 x USB sockets in the glove box, so being the old geezer that I am, I was able to put a load of my favourites, (mainly 1970's prog rock!) on to a USB and just play that in the car. My new car has the Canton system with just a grey rectangular unit in the glove box with no CD slot and no USB. Does everything have to be streamed by Bluetooth from your phone nowadays? Again, being an older guy I don't have hours of music on my phone. Mainly because there isn't the memory space for it! Any advice you can give me as always is gratefully received. Thank you.
  16. So far I am still getting to grips with the Canton sound system. I know it is all to save the trees etc, but I do wish we could have a proper handbook that actually relates to your own vehicle rather than a generic one that includes options that we don't have, and a load of QR codes to find what you need to know. Maybe it's a generational thing. Thanks for your offer of information. Yes it would be good to know what you have added. So far I have only added luggage nets as I stupidly left mine in my old car when I traded it in.
  17. Thanks Chris. That makes sense now. I have the Canton system. Yes I took the door off to take the photo, and I do have the anti-slip chocks. I feel better knowing!
  18. Hi All, I fairly recently changed from a 2016 SEL Estate to a 2023 L&K Hatch. My 2016 car had empty storage compartments left and right in the boot. But the new car has this grey unit in it. Looking at the handbook doesn't make it clear (to me anyway) what this is. Sorry if it is a dumb question. Thanks in anticipation.
  19. Whaaat?! What a waste. In my experience it always paid to stay on the right side of the fleet manager!
  20. I agree - it is truly a "Superb" car. I am lucky enough to own a 400bhp "weekend fun car" so I couldn't justify even to myself going for the 280bhp version, but I was very much tempted! Sounds like you have had some interesting cars - Nissan 200SX - quite a rarity!
  21. I had a windscreen replaced recently (not on the Skoda) and the windscreen was different if the vehicle had , or didn't have a rain sensor. That might answer your question above, but I don't know the reason for the price difference.
  22. My 2016 SEL had a "secret" drawer under the passenger seat. The 2023 L&K doesn't have this drawer, but instead has what appears to be a heater unit, but I might be wrong. There is no aux heater selection button, so if this is a heater unit, is it automatic? Because the owner's manual covers all possible options, it is not clear to me what this is.
  23. Thanks for your insights. My "new" car is a 23 plate 190 tsi , not tdi. I see what you mean about the mapping. I haven't got the hang of it yet. I agree, in normal driving mode it is quite reluctant to change down.
