  1. Had it for 4 months, 7 weeks of that it has been in for repairs. Now traded in for something else (non-Skoda) Latest problems being electric window faults, very sluggish acceleration accompanied by a rattle and power steering noise. Hard to believe this car came 4th in Top Gear survey. In the 4 months I have owned it. Leaky doors Gearbox faults Power steering faults Throttle faults Failed MOT Accelerator fault Electric window faults These are all problems reported elsewhere. I figure Skoda Auto rushed this car out to beat the VW Polo (which I have also owned and experienced no problems). VW seemed to get the Polo sorted before launch. Design issues have not been addressed post production (leaks reported on 56 plate Fabias !!!!) The lesson learnt is: 'Don't believe the hype' Skoda are cheaper than VW for a reason and I think I've found that reason.
  2. After two long motorway trips in the Fabia combi my oil is a little low on the dipstick. I can't find what type of top up to use anywhere in the Skoda handbook (My Ford Fiesta's handbook tells me exactly what grade/brand to use) So what do I put in? It's a 1.4 16v 100hp unit.
  3. I guess this car/van is aimed at those who do not enjoy driving.
  4. I really think the Roomster should have traction control as standard. I have a Roomster 2 on loan and its handling is quite scary, especially round bends. My little Fiesta zips round bends with ease that the Roomster tackles with tyres screeching. My Fiesta has no traction control and is 5 years old, the Roomster is a bang up to date modern vehicle. I fear that things would get even hairier in the wet. Bearing in mind people are going to use this car to ferry kids around I would have thought traction contol would have been a must.
  5. Got the 1.9 TDCi Roomster 2 as a loan car whilst my Fabia is in for repars (again) Plenty of power but engine noise is quite high for a modern diesel. Handling isn't that great, it leans around corners too much, my Fiesta handles a lot lot better. I wouldn't have one over a standard estate car. Can't stick my elbow out of the window because it curves round.
  6. I am a law graduate and studied consumer law for 12 months, if they try to give me the run around I'll just go to the small claims court and have them for the
  7. Since buying my approved used Fabia it has spent more time off the road than on. I had to wait 2 weeks for the dealer to fit a new subframe. Then it developed a gearbox fault. They've already had the car for 3 weeks and say it'll be at least another 2 weeks due to parts on back order. Total 7 weeks off the road !!! I'm thinking of asking for my money back now as they are clearly in breach of contract under the Sale of Goods Act. This is my first Skoda and will be my last, the dealers are friendly but if they cannot get parts they are about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Ford seem to have good spares backup, why not Skoda. It's part of VAG it should be a lot lot better than this. I'm trading it in for a Toyota Auris or Honda Civic me thinks.
  8. Well I've had my 02 Fabia estate for 1 month now. So far so bad. A knocking sound requires 2 weeks in the dealer for a gearbox stripdown and possible replacement. The back doors leak too. My Focus never had any of these problems. It was just a bit thirsty being an auto. I traded it in for the Skoda becuase of their VW reputation and it was a 5 speed manual. I'm beginning to regret the decision. I don't think I'll be keeping the Skoda after the 12 month approved warranty has expired. Manufacturers get one chance to get it right, this is the 21st century cars should be pretty well sorted from day 1. Leaks are inexcusable, the original Mini leaked 40 years ago you'd have thought lessons would have been learnt since then. I'm using my Fiesta Zetec now the Skoda is stuck on the drive through fear of the gearbox falling apart on the M1.
  9. There's a few posts about rumbles here and there. Anyone had anything similar one to this. When coasting in gear at lower speeds 20-30 mph my 2002 1.4 16v Fabia estate experiences a sort of low pitch brrrrrrr. It seems to go away when pressure is applied to the accelerator, then when I lay off the gas it comes back This is the first car I've owned with traction control and diff lock, just wondered if it was associated with these devices. The car has had new tyres recently and was fitted with a new sub-frame which was damaged by the previous owner (the damage was very minor but it was fouling the wishbone mounting so failed its MOT). It's still under its 12 months used warranty so if it is a problem it should be fixed.
