  1. Found this: "The good news is, some users have said that updating to the just-released iOS 8.1 beta has resolved their Bluetooth woes, so there’s a good chance the update includes a fix. 8.1 is only available to registered developers right now, but we’re expecting it to launch publicly soon." iOS 8.1 is out at some point on Monday (20th) so let's hope it fixes your issues.
  2. Taking a look at the Amundsen manual it can support GSM II and III but I have no idea what the 6 uses. I know there have been a number of reports of iOS 8 (all supported iPhones) and problems with in-car Bluetooth stereos. I guess I've been lucky!
  3. Got a 6 Plus - absolutely fine on my 2012 Yeti SE Plus with the Amundsen head unit.
  4. I'm sure I'm like many others who were firmly in the 'no automatic for me' camp, thinking that an auto would make driving less enjoyable. It was only after trying my brother's auto Roomster back in 2008 that I had my mind permanently changed. I found driving an auto much more enjoyable as you spend more time in driving well (for instance, your positioning on the road and taking corners more neatly (or spiritedly )) then you do fiddling with gears. You also get more time to enjoy the view and I believe more alert to spot any potential dangers. My next car was an auto (an Octavia 1.4 TSI DSG), then another (a Fabia II vRS (also DSG)). Then in effort to save money I reverted back to a manual car (a Fabia Monte Carlo). This was a huge mistake. Just 12 months later and only 9000 miles on the clock the Monte was gone and was replaced by a brand new Yeti 1.2 DSG. Still only 10 months old it now has 17,000 miles on the clock. I just love driving it (hence the mileage) and would heartily recommend any DSG-equipped car. Yes, having a manual car can be fun for about 5% of your time sat behind the wheel, but for the other 95% of the time it's just an unnecessary slog. I would never buy a manual car again.
  5. I guess by default I win the 'best reversing up a grassy bank in a 2WD car after making a bit of a tit of myself' award The photoshoot made the day extra special so I'm glad I took part.
  6. I know you were, I was just teasing I hadn't read the 2WD/4WD thread until you mentioned it - I see you've had to fight for us '2 wheelers!' I would have loved 4WD on Dennis (regardless of whether I really needed it or not) but as I would still have wanted DSG this would have made the car another 4 grand more expensive - I was stretching my budget as it was :(
  7. Ma'am, that's fightin' talk! I would challenge you to a duel but as they normally take place in a damp, boggy wood at dawn I think I've proved today we'd both get stuck as soon as we left the gravel track Not much call for 4 wheel drive in the middle of Hertfordshire hence my choice of the 'Octavia in a pretty frock standing on tiptoes' model
  8. (Hangs head in shame) - yup, that was me Young Dennis was a bit out of his league when it came to that mighty grass bank! Many thanks to the white Yeti '4x4 Surrey Rescue' driver who advised me on how to get out of that pickle. The other red Yeti there was four wheel drive so he had no problem leaving the scene of the crime. We had a fantastic day (the photoshoot was an unexpected bonus) so thanks to Johann and anybody else who helped in the organisation of the shoot plus Colin and team (if he had a team) for organising the day.
  9. Apologies to the driver of a silver grey Yeti (reg plate PAT?) near Ormesby who's wave I saw far too late to respond to. I blame it on the shiny glare coming from their clean bonnet! :-) I'm sure Dennis (my Yeti) is giving me dirty looks for ignoring a fellow Yetian :-(
  10. Yay, that was me! It was the first time I've been flashed by a fellow Yetian so it would be rude not to give you a wave in return. I haven't been flashed/waved at since my days of Lada Niva ownership - now that was an exclusive club I do like that Tangerine colour on 'Kevin' - 'Dennis' would have been the same but Skoda don't do it any more, hence one of my other favourite car colours, Tonka toy red
  11. KB is sending me his card so I'll update this thread once I've received it and taken a gander at the contents.
  12. Still alive and well as I picked up my new Yeti from the dealers on Wednesday! Knowing my Yeti was imminent I followed my own instructions and set up my SD card. Apart from the essential dot files on the card the Amundsen can't see anything else (as the dot underscore files are just not there). I was going to suggest sending the card to me but vegit8 beat me to it! At least it will give us an opportunity to point a firm finger at where the problem lies. However, I think it might be a problem with your Mac but I wouldn't like to say exactly what. Please PM me and we'll go from there. I'm happy to help out as it may assist other members in the future.
  13. Another one for the 'delivered' pile - 'Dennis', a 1.2 TSI DSG SE Plus, ordered 30/06/12, taken ownership 26/09/12. At time of order the big book of build estimates said 16-18 weeks, add on four weeks from build to delivery and I was looking at mid-November/start of December. As you can imagine I'm a very happy bunny with it arriving considerably earlier than forecast.
  14. 'Dennis' is getting delivered to the dealers tomorrow and I take ownership of him next Wednesday - yay!
  15. You used to live in Watford... and then came to your senses I'm not beaten yet (but I'm certainly heading that way!) To answer your questions out of order: The cd command is not case sensitive. On a Mac I can only format an SD card with an uppercase name but can type it in lowercase when using the Terminal. Some of the things that are being typed in with the list of commands I've shown are case sensitive but I don't think volume names are. For example, the two SD cards I've been using are named BARNEY and PANY but during all of the testing I've done I've only typed them in as barney and pany. 10.5.x would make that Leopard, circa late 2007 (when I first got into Macs (and never looked back)). The dot_clean command was introduced with Leopard so all of this should work on your Mac. I've got two thoughts: Your USB 3.0 card reader isn't being recognised correctly but if you can copy and delete files using the Finder I think we can probably discount this as the problem. I'm wondering if you haven't got enough admin rights but the Mac isn't telling you so and subsequently ignoring your Terminal commands. Under System Preferences, Users & Groups, check to see if the account you are using has admin rights. Regardless of what it's telling you (whether you have admin rights or not) open up the Terminal and follow this short set of instructions (specifically tailored for the name of your SD card): cd /volumes/music (Enter) sudo rm -dr .* (Enter) - you should be asked for your password here touch .Trashes (Enter) ls -a (Enter) This should return the following: . .. .Trashes (plus your music folder) If you're wondering what sudo is it means 'superuser do' - it puts the Mac in a high administrative state. Even admin users don't normally have this higher level of privileges hence why you have to type in your password. This is generally why the Mac suffers less from virii, worms and trojans as it's hard for this malware to get the level of access needed without your say so. If you can see the dot, double dot, the .Trashes file and your music folder (and other folders you have created) ONLY follow the rest of the instructions as before. You won't need to put the sudo command on the two find commands for .DS_Store and ._* as the sudo command lasts for a few minutes before being cancelled. If you can see other files now's the time to start screaming as it hasn't worked. Good luck - I've got my fingers crossed!
