  1. I filled the tank last week and as well as usual commute to work (Huddersfield to Bingley - uphill and down dale) I've also been to Milton Keynes + Rochdale (both on motorway) and so far it's done 543 miles with approx 80 left according to the computer at an average of 59.1 mpg. Saying that I've been pretty light with my right foot and on the motorways had the cruise control set at 75. Really happy with ecomony but it is very tempting to plant it every now and then!!!!

  5. I had my 2005 1.9tdi Elegance (34,000 miles) remapped just over a month ago and did have concerns which I expressed to the guy doing the remap (Ben @ MAS Performance.) He totally understood where I was coming from and after the work my concerns where totally unfounded. Indeed I now wish I had the remap done years ago. It's like driving a new car! My bhp is now 130 (I wanted a mix between ecomony and performance). The car is due a service next month so I'll be checking if the dealer mentions anything? Definately £200 well spent.
  6. I'd been pondering for quite a while about a remap for my 2005 1.9tdi Elegance. Decide to take the plunge after reading up various posts both on here and other websites. Had the remap done 3 weeks ago by Ben @ MAS Performance based near Keighley. Spoke to him a couple of times before booking the appointment with various questions. He came out to my place of work, remap took approx an hour and a half, we then went for a quick spin and all I can say is WOW!!! - I'd told him I didn't want the remap purely for performance but more like half performance half ecomony. I've now had the pleasure of 3 weeks since it was done and all I can say is why didn't I have it done before? It's like driving a new car. 1st and 2nd gear are good but 3rd, 4th and 5th are superb, I think it's more the improved torque that's impressed me the most. On my daily commute "uphill and down dale" from Huddersfield to Bingley I'm now averaging 59mpg (yes I know the computer is optimistic) compared to 51mpg before. Also there are very few safe over taking places on my route but with the remap these are now a doddle. I can't stop smiling whilst driving my "new" car and would recommend it to anyone still wondering whether to go down this "modification".
  7. Hi Everyone. I currently have a 2005 1.9.tdi Elegance which had full leather, sports suspension + 17" pegasus alloys and sat nav fitted as optional factory extras. I'm currently thinking of changing to an estate 1.9tdi Elegance DSG - probably a late 2007 or early 2008 depending on budget. I realise that I'll probably struggle to find an estate version with all the optional extras my current car has and whilst I can go without the leather I have a couple of questions. Could I have the sports suspension fitted to an estate that doesn't have it and swap the alloys? Also would it be worth leaving the sat nav in the car (to add to its resale value) or taking it out and refitting it into the new car? All replies greatly received. Thanks Matt
  8. Currently got a 54 plate Octy (reg Feb 2005) Elegance 19.tdi with full leather, sports suspension 17" pegasus alloys and sat nav.(only done 27k miles). Was offered £5000 as part ex against a 57 plate Octy similar spec with DSG so would cost me £6200 to change. I can't make my mind up as in Feb mine is due service + timing belt so that will be approx £600. Decisions, decisions....
  9. Live in Huddersfield but my sister lives near Easingwold so pass through pretty regulary.... Will keep an eye out for you. Cheers Matt
  10. Hi Guys. My Octavia II 1.9tdi Elegance is nearly 4 years old and due it's annual service and timing belt changing. The car is on a fixed service schedule and due at 25,000 (currently has 24,267 on the clock). I've just telephoned two main dealers (both in West Yorkshire - Where I have had the car serviced before) and been quoted £183.95 and £235.00 for the service (as it's a main one) and £309.00 (both quoted the same price) for the timing belt. After I picked myself up off the floor I decided to find out what everyone else thinks to these costs? Alternatively I could get the service done now and the timing belt changed in January when the MOT is due? However am I pushing it on the timing belt? (I've read up on the various threads). Finally I've always had the car serviced at a main dealer to keep up with the full service history thing! Is this worth the extra cost in the long run (for the alledged value it adds) when I come to trade in or should I look for an independent? Any thoughts, comments or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks Matt
  11. Hello Can anyone recommend a valeting / detailing company in West Yorkshire? Either close to Huddersfield (home) or Bingley (work) but open to any suggestions. I have a three year old Octavia desperatly in need of some TLC. Also any idea on cost for a thorough going over and finally should I also have it "clayed"? Any suggestions or recommendations gratefully received. Thanks Matt
  12. Octavia 1.9tdi Elegance. 54 plate Registered Feb 05. Mileage 23400. Over the last three fill ups (£50 each time) I've had 53.4mpg, 56.6mpg and 51.9mpg (that's according to the computer) and I'm not totally convinced how accurate it is? My average weekly commute consists of 40 miles each day, uphill and down dale (Huddersfield to Bingley) on mainly A and B roads. Trip to York last month (motorway and then dual carriage way) got over 60mpg. Overall reasonably happy with return.
  13. Just wanted to say hi to all the Briskoda memebers. Bought my first Skoda just over 12 months ago (Octavia Mk2 Elegance 1.9tdi) and apart from a couple of small niggles (which car doesn't?) think it's the best car I've owned. Found the site more than useful with all the tips and expert advice. Thanks to everyone involved and keep up the good work. Cheers Matt
