  1. Tools required for removing the head unit and replacing the screen are torx drivers (non security are fine) T20, T8 and T6. Decent lighting / eyesight are needed when it comes to lifting up the 2 ribbon cable connectors and especially when reconnecting them to the new screen to make sure they are seated correctly before closing the clips. I'd recommend taking photographs as you go so you can remember where all the screws go. Removal of the two SD card bays requires a little bit of force. Be careful not to damage their connectors. I eased that part off first then had to use a little more force to get the bays free of the fascia clips. The two knobs on the front of the radio also require a firm hand and quite a bit of force to remove them. They just pull off to the front. Good luck.
  2. I received the new screen part TDO-WVGA0633F00045 this evening from the seller pandzior (from Poland) on eBay.de. It arrived quickly (ordered 30th August) and well packaged in a reused box and well padded with paper and bubble wrap. Even if not a new item, it certainly appears in perfect undamaged condition. Since I'd previously dismantled my Skoda Yeti 2016's head unit (5L0035680C) to get the screen part number (which was TDO-WVGA0633F00039), fitting the new screen (TDO-WVGA0633F00045) was a simple task. It works perfectly. For £121.21 delivered it was bit of a bargain when compared to other prices for the same screen (both TDO-WVGA0633F00039 and TDO-WVGA0633F00045). Perhaps I have been a bit fortunate, I don't know, but I'm very happy with the outcome. Hopefully these model number details help others fix their head units too. For me, the issue was that parts of the screen were not working (two columns down the screen) and the radio acting as though it was being repeatedly pressed when it wasn't (which seemed worse when damp conditions). I had tried updating to the latest firmware, removing the radio and screen and thoroughly cleaning and also removing engine bay fuse F8 for the infotainment system. Good luck everyone with the same faults. And thanks again Rustynuts for the helpful advice and pab567 on another thread for the radio firmware.
  3. It was a German eBay seller that I was looking at with the cheaper prices so will be the same one you refer to. I wrongly assumed they were a more reliable business source as they had several items listed of different parts and all as new. I ordered a part a few minutes before your post. Fingers crossed it is fully functional 🤔 I'll update this thread with however it pans out. Thanks again for all your your help. Hopefully the part numbers listed will be useful to @ben_highlands solving their issue too.
  4. Ah, understood. I appreciate the advice, thank you. I've popped the radio out again and this time disconnected the screen units ribbon cables. From the rear of the touchscreen unit, the QR code stuck to it scans as: 1740633000309.TDO-WVGA0633F00039.20151023.3610L From how the part number is etched into the rear of the screen, I believe the part number is TDO-WVGA0633F00039. Presumably the 20151023.3610L is the date of manufacture (my Yeti is a 2016 model) and the preceding series of digits is a manufacturer reference number of some kind. The best price I can find for a replacement TDO-WVGA0633F00039 is with AliExpress.com. lasertrader.de also appear to stock the part but for a slightly higher cost. I think I'd rather order from Germany though to avoid customs issues so may go for that one. I have also noticed that TDO-WVGA0633F00045 is available from some suppliers cheaper but is an AMOLED screen. From what I can see spec wise, it is essentially an AMOLED version of the same screen. The fittings certainly appear the same. Could I not replace my faulty TDO-WVGA0633F00039 touchscreen unit with a TDO-WVGA0633F00045 and gain the benefit of a better price and a true black AMOLED screen? Having removed the old screen to get the unit part number, I am comfortable in fitting the replacement screen myself.
  5. Thanks @Rustynuts. Is that just for the screen, the front panel or the entire unit? My understanding was that the panel can be swapped without coding but a new unit can't. If just the screen, what is involved with the fitting of it into the front panel? From what I could see when I popped the front panel off my unit was that it was some small ribbon connectors to attach. Is the fitting something that you do?
  6. I have the same issue with my 2016 Yeti 5L0035680. There are two "columns" down the screen that do not respond to touch at all and the other areas that do work are intermittent as though other parts of the screen are being registered as pressed at the same time. I have taken the unit it and thoroughly cleaned around it and checked connections but still the problem persists. @Rustynuts you mentioned replacement touchscreens. I'm sure this would solve my issue. Do you know what the part number is for a replacement screen for my unit (picture attached) which I believe is 5L0035680 and where I can get one?
