Right. I managed to remove the chrome-coloured grill surround, got a screwdriver in, and flicked the latch. Turns out I had somehow moved the lever past the latch and it I had to bring it back. Anyway it’s fixed.

Hi, does anyone have experience with this? The bonnet is releasing from the pull inside the cabin and pops up. I can feel the lever under the bonnet and move it from left to right, but nothing happens. I wonder if it is snapped or just not making contact? The car isn’t running - suspect battery connection or something worse - so moving it isn’t easy, and I can’t get my head under it. From underneath I can reach up and touch the top of the fan but no further. If anyone has any tips, pictures or anything, I’d be hugely appreciative. It’s a diesel 57 plate Octavia, but it is the Mark I body.

Totally! I took it apart this afternoon, and I found what I found. It’s all good, I managed to get what I needed from a friend of a friend and it’s fixed.

For information: it looks like my 57 plate takes the top kind of stalk.

Hi everyone, I’m new here, and I promise I’ve searched the forums before asking this. I’m just confused about what part to order. I’ve got a 2007 Octavia TDI Classic 1.9. A while ago, someone broke into the car and vandalised the interior. One of the things they broke was the indicator stalk. I was able to push it back into place and it worked fine until today when it came off in my hand. From what I’ve read here, my car has separate stalks, and that I’ll need to take the steering wheel off and all that. The thing that is confusing me is that different parts sites are suggesting different looking parts. Can someone say which of the parts below look right? Is there anything else I should know? I’ve found loads of threads about changing to cruise control stalks, so they are pretty good at explaining the process.
