  1. Battery voltage is in the green so it's not that! I've found a mobile diagnostic chap locally so am thinking of getting him to do his thing!
  2. After the first diagnostic the error cleared but returned quite quickly. The second time collecting from the garage the management light was on from the start. I'm not sure the garage were overly bothered due to the cars age! I'm going to check the battery tomorrow and if the voltage is low get a new one. After that I'll source someone else to do more diagnostic digging!
  3. Thank you. I'll try that tomorrow and post an update. It would be fantastic if it was something as simple as that. Funny thing was the first diagnostic showed low voltage plus the cam positioning sensor. The sensor was replaced and new plugs fitted but the management light stayed on and it still lacks a lot of power, bit sluggish too. Fingers crossed. 👍
  4. Would that cause the engine management light to come on and stay on?
  5. My gut says it's running on 2 cylinders and it definitely sounds wrong when idling, and has much less power than it used to. Actually sounds like a cheap lawnmower! 😂 I'll use the link and see.if I can arrange anything. I've really appreciated all your help. I'll keep you posted. Have a good evening. 👍
  6. Thank you. Is it best for me to suggest this to the garage on Monday and compared to what we thought originally would I be right to think this is all pointing to something easier and cheaper?? Lol. In the meantime, would you drive it locally or not? I know its not easy to advise remotely! Happy with your best guess! I'd bring it to you as well if that was an option...seriously!! Talk about desperation!! 😂
  7. Yes. The engine management light is on. When hooked up to the garage computer it apparently shows cam positioning sensor and originally low voltage suggesting the battery needed changing. I was told the last diagnostic only showed the cam positioning sensor. The garage mentioned the ignition coil pack as a possibility too. Honestly, I'm not knowledgeable enough at all to know one way or the other!
  8. One more to come after this...
  9. Managed to get a look as you advised. They seem to match positions in my opinion which is good, I think? Posting photos to follow. Wasn't easy to take photos but got 3. One of each and one.of both together. Hopefully you can offer an opinion from them and let me know. Thanks again for your help so far.
  10. Thank you. Still on the course so will take a look later.
  11. I'll get my lump hammer out shortly and have a look. Seriously though, I will try to look and let you know. I have a driver Ed course at lunchtime after having allegedly past a cyclist too closely. Not doing well at the moment am I. 🤣
  12. Good morning. Attached is a photo of the engine of my Fabia. It's done 118000+ miles so isn't the youngest car anymore but its run perfectly until this. Given everyone's comments, from people far more knowledgeable than me, the picture being built is that it would cost way more to repair than the car is worth so it feels like the end of the road, literally. My next step is to talk to my garage on Monday and share what you good folks have said and see what they say. In the meantime I won't drive it, unless I take it to part ex it, which is likely. I really appreciate everyone offering opinions. We're all living in difficult times and I could have done without this, especially after spending hundreds to keep it going a few weeks ago on wiring looms, service, MOT etc, but life is like that isn't it. Have a good day everyone.
