Exactly this is the part that broke but the cable got mangled. So I probably need to buy one of the setsthat include the above, cables, and central pulley mechanism.

Mainly I am wary of buying a subpar knockoff that breaks prematurely thus needing even more time to do the job twice (or more!), but it is what it is. Any recommendation on re-assembling using bolts (with thread lock) instead of rivets to fit the carrier to the door panel? Good advice about sound deadening but hopefully I won't have this issue as re-using the original carrier.

Can someone recommend a current supplier for a window regulator repair kit (electric, drivers side front)? One of the white plastic cable holders snapped, allowing one end of the cable to come loose. These are the small white plastic parts that attach the cable to the metal window clamps (the clamps that hold the window glass). Eurocarparts sells only the complete carrier panel for £40. OK so this wouldn't break the bank, but if I don't try and spend as little money as possible it defeats the point of attempting a DIY repair. There are various ebay sellers who still appear to stock the minimal repair kits that consist of cables and associated white plastic parts only - this appears to be the type of repair kit required in my case. As usual it is difficult to know which random ebay seller to trust who won't send me one made of string and cardboard, so I'm just looking for some recommendations (from ebay, or anyhere else) before praying to the Gods and picking a random one.

OK well just in case anyone is curious a so called 'universal' battery clamp like the one I linked to above won't work because of the plastic battery lid/busbar housing being in the way. I ended up fixing the original clamp back on with a new bolt. Let's hope the same thing doesn't happen to this one.

Car: Mk1 Fabia VRS I had to cut off the clamp and captive bolt which secures the battery in place on on the battery tray, because it has rusted solid. I say stupid because I had the exactly the same problem on an old Corsa which used the same type of 'foot clamp'.
