  1. That picture is from before the 1st repair, so far no one has honoured their warranty on any of the repairs...
  2. https://www.motorreviewer.com/engine.php?engine_id=118 I would hope you have the 3rd Gen engine.
  3. The spark plugs fitted were Bosch FR7LDC+ with a heat range of 7, a correct fitment should have a heat rate of 5. Would that have made such a huge difference? Oil consumption wasn't too bad ,around a litre for a thousand miles.
  4. The initial failure according to the owner of the garage was carbon build up on the valve, which he said was common for these engines. I have the valve somewhere it looks like it's been spark eroded. I suspected injector failure and the garage who repaired the head even said injector fault on their initial assessment. They might have forgotten in the 4 weeks that it took for them to complete the repairs... I asked for a new tensioner and chain as the head would be off. Owned by me for 3 years, last service May 2019, they have the plug type listed on the invoice, Bosch FR7ldc+ I don't know the reason for cyl 4's loss of compression, they wanted £380 to take the head off and look. I said I'm not spending anymore money, they said you best come and collect it then. Yeti is back home with me, triple cripple.
  5. Within 800 miles of my newly built head. EPC light, engine fault light, display panel mesage: Engine fault! Workshop! Back I go to the local independent garage. They said they were very busy, but within a day told me loss of compression on cylinder 4! And that the spark plugs were not the correct ones, cyl 4 spark plug had burnt it's electrode. As they weren't the ones who fitted the plugs, they're claiming not their problem! The plugs fitted were Bosch FR7ldc+ which look like they're for an older Audi 1.8T engine. If they rebuilt the head, why would they put the old spark plugs back?
  6. I had to have the head rebuilt, 16 new valves, camchain, tensioner etc. Not a cheap month by any stretch!
  7. I have a canbus error on all my doors and the only thing that doesn't work is my internal central locking switch.
  8. Mine is the Gen 4, including postage i can get the whole kit for £251.19.
  9. Thanks for that, so basically brown sugar. That's exactly what ran out of my engine when they took the head off...
  10. I thought the Haldex pump primed when you turn the ignition on? From the videos I've watched they use the VCDS to prime the pump and push the filter housing out, but if my pump is knackered it won't do that. I'll need to rewatch and see how they get the air out of the system after installing new pump and oil. I
  11. The whole kit from Haldex Repair is £240ish. As soon as I know the status with my engine repair I might just order that. https://www.haldexrepairs.co.uk/shop/repair-and-service-kits/gen-4-vw-audi-seat-skoda-haldex-pump-kit-0ay598549a/
  12. I've been quoted £470 to replace the pump and another £160 to fit and service the system. I think I'll buy the pump kit and do it myself. There's a set of ramps I can use or do you think I'll need an inspection pit?
  13. Thanks, I got it wrong then as I guessed cappuccino.
  14. In that case, I'll need to edit out all the filler if I ever want to hear Warren Zevon in the car again.
  15. I had a quick search but didn't find a thread. I can lock the doors pushing the button, but not unlock them. I suspect the button itself, does anyone know the part code?
  16. I don't know what the actual colour of my Yeti is. When they sold it to me they said gold, but it's more dark bronze. Can anybody tell me?
  17. I've got a 32gb SD card and my 2010 only reads some of the MP3 data, I've lost everything after T in the car. Card is fine when I plug it into the PC.
  18. Is the Climatronic calibration required as routine or is it only when you've replaced the battery or something?
  19. I don't think my light is working anymore, I'll give your switch a go cheers.
  20. I have Falken AS210 all season tyres on 17" rims and I think the grip is pretty good for climbing up the side of wet slippery Lancashire hills, road use isn't compromised in the dry either.
  21. I've been reading and it's depressing stuff. Maybe I should have bought the diesel after all.
  22. First place I took it is just 2 blokes, one in the office and one mechanic. They're ok for small stuff and 12 years ago rebuilt the pedal box on our old polo for a fraction of the cost of anyone else. Currently the yeti has been sitting at the VW specialist in Eccles for just about a week and they were supposed to get to it midweek, so that should be today. They said on pumpdown compression test the rings are ok, but if it had oil starvation then I think the cam lobes and rockers might have worn. My concern is any metal worn off will have gone all through the engine and contribute to a shorter life span for all other components. It's been 30 years since I rebuilt an engine, I no longer have the space, tools or time to do it myself.
