I bought my Fabia vRS in October 2003. Previously I owned a "tacky" Ford Fiesta Zetec-S.

  1. Thank you for all the posts and the personal messages I received. I think I need another drive of the mark II. Although £7500 is a great part exchange allowance, as the VRS currently has no amazing VAT free offers my cost to change with options would be £10k. So, I want to make sure I like the car. Fuel economy isn't a great issue as I have a 8 miles journey to work, which can mainly be stop and start and I often drive to Brixton around the South Circular, which can also be stop/start. I think my biggest concern is depreciation. I have clearly been spoilt with my current car. It was £13k new, and I paid £2600 plus my 06 reg VRS that had 26k miles on the clock. So to still be offered £7500 is fantastic. As for the Mark II, do they seem to lose a lot? Probably lose a fair few thousand when you pay full list price. There is nothing wrong with my current car. Part of me is tempted to keep it, but I've never wanted to pay for repairs on cars, so always changed them regularly (up to now that is) as it becomes dead money. Then again am I paying over the odd's for ok, a new car with new technology and a warranty? I'm normally quite impulsive when I buy a car, but this time, I can't seem to decide.
  2. I was pleased with the PX offer. I doubt I would get much more (if at all) if I sold it privately and would have the advertising costs etc. I do love the torque and how it just keeps pulling up hills, even in sixth. It is my third diesel VRS and I have loved them all. I think if the VRS had a diesel option I wouldn't even hesitate to buy. I expect the diesels will hold their value better? The Greenline will be great for when I drive into London, but then no fun with that, just very sensible! Then again, is the DSG fun to drive?
  3. Hi, I currently have a Fabia I VRS SE. I bought it new in 2007 and it has done 26,000 miles. I love the car but am aware that it's the longest I've ever had a car and was thinking of changing. I was offered £7500 in part exchange for it and think that is a good price. I drove a Fabia II VRS earlier today. Although significantly more HP I didn't feel it, even with the gearbox in sport mode. I realise there would be a difference in fuel economy and accept that, as the car is designed to be a hot hatch. In all honesty, how many owners who have donw this switch are pleased they have? The residuals on my current car have been amazing really, and I doubt I will get the same again. Is the VRS a good move or should I stay with a diesel and get a Monte Carlo (poss a Ibiza FR) or manybe go really green and "driving Miss Daisy" and get a Greenline. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatefully received.
  4. Heated seats were never really that popular. When I part ex'd my 53 plate and ordered my 06 I had heated leather seats. During the winter I would have them on because the car would take ages to warm up, but it did take longer to heat up cos of the leather. I found that I would get out of the car and my back would be in terrible pain, really not good. Friends would also say the same, they loved the heat whilst sitting, but getting out of the car even on a 10-15 minute journey they would complain that there back was hurting. It felt as if I was frying my kidneys! Now got an 07 SE, so no heated seats, the leather is a must, as can just wipe the seats clean and as yet haven't missed the heater option!!
  5. I was more than happy with my 06 reg vRS, then saw the SE and just thought I would enquire for the cost to change. I tend to buy a new car every two - three years, and can't stand the sales pitch etc. Especially when they try and pressure you to sign on the spot. The most frustrating part for me is where they say a price, it's not what you were expecting and then they say "I'll just go and speak to my manager, to see if we can do anything else"!!!!! Anyway, I email the garages. I know what it is I want, so take pictures of my car and simply email the dealerships. Always blind copy them to just send the one blanket email. This time round, emailed 40, got 19 replies. Some saying that they couldn't quote a price without seeing the car (06 reg, Silver with heated leather, Cruise, CD changer, airbag de-act and 24k on the clock). Others came back with the cost to change. Prices went from almost
  6. I bought the Skoda one's. Did cost just under
  7. I part exchanged by 06 VRS for the VRS SE. Before I bought I asked if I would have the stutter problems like before. It was like a kiss of death when they assured me that they hadn't been aware of any other cars with the problem since mine a year ago. Get in the new one, only just pulled away and instantly felt the stutter. Far more violent than on the last car. Between 1600 - 1800 revs, so when I'm driving around town, or in traffic and when changing down, it feels really bad, albeit for only a second or two before if sorts itself out, but was really hoping that on this (my third vRS) I wouldn't have any problems. When the technician took the car out to test it, they looked up the problem and apparently the fix should have happened at the factory!!?? It goes back in on Tuesday for the fix.
  8. I received a call from my dealer to say that the parts were in and have booked my car in for next Thursday. Hope it sorts it out, cos with the colder weather it has been really bad
  9. Had mine fixed once. Came back within a couple of days. Not as noisey or frustrating, but still there. I do find everytime I take it to the dealer, something else gets broken off. When I picked up the car, didn't notice anything, but wasn't looking really. Found that the ashtray wasn't screwed in correctly, they had broken a securing clip from the centre console, so I had an inch gap in the drivers footwell, the list just went on. I just put it back correctly, but did call the garage, but not a sincere apology or anything. Just said 'sorry' as he had to. My question was "who was working on the car?" as surely it could have been a trained technician, as I would find it hard to believe that they wouldn't be able to put a centre console back correctly!!! The dealer hates me. Have regular conversations and they know my reg number off the top of their heads. Is that a bad thing!!??
  10. I have had my car since April. Getting ready to book it in for the 10k service. My stutter is still there. It doesn't happen all the time. I can drive for days before it comes back, but then when it does, the car stalls and literally doesn't seem to move for about 3-4 seconds, then off it goes! This is my second vRS. The first (53 reg) I part exchanged for the new one. Got a good price for it (£7,700) as it had done 57k miles and needed all the brakes changed. The new one appears to lack a lot of power, especially as I ran my old one on bio diesel (this one has had a strictly pure diesel diet) but the dealer doesn't have any answers. I do get really good fuel economy with the car, but the main reason is because I use the cruise control all the time and just poodle, but as overtaking is a brave or stupid thing to do, I just sit quietly with the lorries! I have reported this to Skoda customer service. I get a call from Roger every couple of weeks. Basically saying that "technical" are still dealing. I've even offered that they can play with my car, but to just sort it. Reading these listings I am disgusted that some people have not had any support from Skoda (dealer or UK) and have had no other choice but to sell or part exchange. Then of course the new owner will have the problem. All my friends thought my last car was great, but this one......well even I'm with them! Also shocked that people six months on, are still having the problem. If Skoda are aware of the problem, then they shouldn't be selling the cars until the fault is resolved. Enough from me!!!

  12. I'm thinking about selling/part ex-ing mine for a new one. Registered 10/10/03 (53 plate) One owner 54,000 miles (everything works as any probs, it's straight to the dealer, no messing!!) In Silver I'm after a new Fabia vRS in Silver, with cruise control, heated seats, rear head restraint, air bag de-ac switch. I guess I should sell privately then email all the dealers and see just what sort of deal I can get. Any ideas anyone??
  13. So, this afternon I go out to the car, start up and think how noisey the car is, then notice that the steering light is on!! Try to pull away and I've lost the power steering!!! The car was fine when I drove home last night, so rather strange. So I'll have to call the garage on Monday.
  14. I need to get new tyre's on mine. Decided to move away from the Michelins and am looking at getting a set of Bridgestone Turanza ER300's. I was quoted
  15. I'm pleased that this was mentioned. I have found that I'll switch it on, and after about a minute it'll switch off, then I'll press the button and it'll take about 5 seconds before it decides to switch on, and then again after about a minute it'll just switch off. So, I'm going to wait for the next service and mention it then (although am tempted to part ex and buy a new one)
