  2. Brilliant thank you! I'm not sure on if the chain has ever been done so will check. 93,000 on the TSi and 110,000 on the HTP. I do agree the HTP is a more chuggy engine but does sound good! 😂
  3. I can't make my mind up so asking everyone's opinions. I'm looking at 2 petrol Fabia's. The first is a 2008 1.2HTP, the 2nd a 2010 1.2TSI 85ps. With no experience in either of these (only had Diesels), which would you say will be the more reliable in the long run? Power isn't too much of an issue I managed with a Seat Mii 59hp for 2 years and 54,000 miles! Cheers
  4. Hello All! A few weeks ago the power steering pump let go on my 2002 Fabia 1.4 16v Auto. I have since replaced the car but have kept this for my other half to learn in (wants an auto licence). I also see it as a future classic too ;) I am sourcing a pump from my local garage to fit myself (swapped a few bits to get it). He said to check if it's the newer type of pump or the older one and to look for the brown plug. I've checked and can't see this plug meaning it's the old style but has anyone else swapped one out on this age of car? It's a 52 plate registered in December 2002? Cheers
  5. Good Evening, I have recently changed to a 2002 Fabia 1.4 16v Auto. Car is absolutely fantastic and seems to be doing well economy wise. I have come across one problem and thought I would ask on here before I pop into the garage. Sometimes when you are going along and let off the throttle you can hear a growling noise from the back of the car. This can change to either doing it on or off the throttle. I have now noticed just that when I stopped it started squeakily rattling and when I revved it you heard the rumble through the car? To me this sound like the exhaust is loose but wanted everyone's opinion. The car has 89k on the clock (Very low for me usually) and in general is in extremely tidy condition for it's age. Dan
  6. Thanks all for your replies! I think I will keep it at the stock 70hp and enjoy the fuel economy! And I will agree if I got more power out of it I would end up giving it more welly! Overton Service Station's loan cars are mainly mk1 Fabia's with the 1.9TDI 100hp engines and every time I get one of those it's a hell of a treat with the mega speed 😂😉
  7. Evening! I've had my 07 Fabia 1 1.4TDI 70HP since new years eve and in the 10,000 miles i've done it's a rock solid car. Great history, been looked after most it's life by the small Skoda garage in Ludlow so as with all his cars it's known like his own! I have been throwing around the idea of getting it mapped. I had been looking at the 88hp eco map to give me some extra mpg's. However, a local mapping company have said it's a pointless job because of my current mpg's. Working out by hand (Don't have the fancy display!) my best is 65.5mpg with normal driving over 300 miles. City, motorway and A roads. Just wondering what people's views are who have this type. It's done nearly 150,000 miles and is very strong so no doubt can double that. But I don't want to ruin my economy by getting it done!
