Thanks, this is what I had presumed but just wanted to make sure. I have upgraded to MIB 2.5 with Pawel’s help, the display that I received with the unit has had it though. I managed to find a replacement yesterday.

Does anyone know if the 5E0919606D has component protection in place or is it just the main unit?

Thanks Gaz, My advice, do not think about it! My first car was a little 1.2 Corsa C. Nothing special but I loved it. Part-ex'd it after a year. Went back to the dealership again for a service only to hear that they had sold it to a member of staff who wrote it off on the 2nd day of ownership. Broke my heart! Sometimes it is best not to know

Thanks Sasha, really appreciate your assistance. Well I have the VCDS Hex-v2 and the stereo units coming in the next few days. I am a data recovery engineer by trade and repairing firmware on hard drives and SSDs is my trade. For this reason, I know that jumping in blind can lead to all sorts of problems. Time for me to get reading and learning methinks!

I have just ordered a Columbus 9.2" MIB 2.5 head unit and screen from fleabay. It is allegedly plug and play (according to the seller) though he mentions that there might be some sound issues which will require coding. Is this likely to be fibbing on the seller's part? Is any additional hardware required when upgrading from a MIB 2 Amundsen? Does anybody know if OBDEleven will be sufficient for the job? I have seen mention on here of tokens etc, are there usage limitations? The website states that the Ultimate unit come with 500 credits but there is nothing in the FAQ about what they are or how far they will get me. I am also considering VCDS HEX-V2 with a 3 VIN limitation. Anybody know what the best option is here?

Picked up a Mk III 2.0 TSI vRS last week. I am replacing a Mazda RX-8 which has been my daily driver for 2 years. Whilst fun, I could no longer justify the fuel consumption and lack of practicality. They don’t come much more practical than the Octavia! Loving the car so far, added a DTUK box and am going through the forums looking at what I do next. Can’t wait to get involved!

Hi @pab567, just to clarify, could I use my Amundsen MIB2 head unit, have this upgraded to MIB2.5 and use the larger soft-button Columbus? If so, am I correct in thinking that you could assist with getting all this working?
