  1. I've had exactly the same issue on mine for the last 20,000 miles or so. Initially I got an engine light which turned out to be a dodgy Lamda sensor, but that was replaced and the problem never went away. I wrote it off as one of those little vRS quirks :p
  2. Good advice- thanks Yeah it's a fairly decent scratch alright, so I doubt they could restore it without applying paint. I will drive around a few places with it and get some quotes I guess, good thing is there's no great rush as my old bumper is solid, just damaged.
  3. thanks guys, good to know the hole drilling is a goer! I might give the pen a whirl and then if it looks ****e just go for the respray. shame because bumper is perfect other than that one spot! c'est la vie!
  4. Hi all, I just bought a second hand bumper to replace the one on my Mk1 Octy vRS, after searching for one for bloody ages! 2 Problems I was hoping for advice on please! Firstly, I have Xenon's with Headlamp Washers on my car, but the "new bumper" doesn't have holes for the washers to poke through. Is this a major concern or can i just drill holes? Secondly, the "new" bumper is scratched in one spot pretty heavily. Anyone had good results painting bumper scratches with touch up pens from halfords? want to avoid a costly respray! Thanks all! T
  5. eek, what a mess! thanks for doing this, looks like it's a no go to repair :( it's a shame skoda charge so much for something so simple and prone to failure.
  6. in that case, have one on me . hell, i might join you.:dtp::dtp::dtp:
  7. nothing to lose, go for it! One other idea- if it's a Short to Ground that's causing all of these failures, if you remove the shorted part of the circuit (i.e. the faulty sensor), would the other sensors continue to work again? 3 sensors are better than nothing. Perhaps the engine management would just continue to shut down everything though. Pesky parking sensors.
  8. anybody tried repairing one of these broken sensors? I mean are they fried when they fail or is it just a loose connection I wonder?
  9. yeah, looks that way alright, The hose seems to have 2 distinct sections on it, at the N75 end it's just a rubber hose same as the others, but on the turbo end it's like a thinner hose with a sleeve around it? Sound familiar? Thanks for your help guys.
  10. Okay, so after further rummaging around I found a hose coming out of the Wastegate Actuator on the Turbo itself, that looks like it should be inserted into the hose hanging off my N75 :) reconnected it, and the car is driving much better. :D:D Final question (I hope!) Is it okay just to use a Jubilee clip to link these two sections of hose or is there some other way they should join together?
  11. Thanks mate, i think you're right, it's supposed to go into the wastegate actuator. seems too short in my cars case?? Anyone else come across this?
  12. Okay, so the plot thickens- I've just had a look under the bonnet, and it looks like one of the hoses coming out of the n75 valve goes nowhere? presume this is wrong? Where should that be going? it's only about a foot long, and is a very clean cut so it's unlikely that it's worn off. pics below. Appreciate the advice! T
  13. yeah, I just called him back and asked him to check the part number and he insists that it's correct, I gave him the other part number (06A 906 283 E) and he says that one is from a Superb not the Octy vRS. He got quite offended at the suggestion that he check the part number! He's faxing over a picture of it to me now apparently so I can check it's correct.
  14. hi all, just rang my local dealer, they gave me a part number of 06A 133 751, does this sound right for the n75 valve?
  15. That's brilliant, thanks a mil! Will make some calls in the morning and see where I can pick some of those up!
  16. Great, thanks Ian- that's exactly what I wanted to hear! I'll make the trip to halfords/the stealers tomorrow lunchtime and let you know how i get on! fingers crossed!
  17. Thanks a mil Ian, I'll try to pick one up tomorrow. I see that there are basically just 3 hoses and an electrical plug? I'm a newbie when it comes to replacing things, but would like to give this a shot. What's the best way to remove the OEM clips holding on the hoses? Should I be able to pick up replacement jubilee clips easy enough in halfords, etc?
  18. Hi all, Well, my Octy vRS 1 is back on the road again, after a bunch of new valves, tensioner, timing belt, new turbo and a pile of new gaskets, and she's running great...... .....except for the fact I'm getting little to no boost.:thumbdwn::thumbdwn::thumbdwn: Basically, the car is idling beautifully, revving fine, turbo kicks in, bit of a kick, then it just fizzles out, with the turbo just whistling away giving me nothing. A quick plug up to VAGCOM (thanks BPM!) shows some Lambda Sensor Faults (17524 and 17511), plus this: 17963 - Charge Pressure: Maximum Limit Exceeded P1555 - 35-00 - - I have been reliably informed this is most likely the n75 valve causing the trouble, either a blockage to it or a knackered valve? What do you guys think? seems to be no other posts here about this error code! Thanks all, T
  19. how's about recording the exhaust notes of your car like they did on Top Gear that time, then hooking them up to a MIDI keyboard and playing the wedding march through the medium of engine noise. Doesn't get more romantic than that... or is that just me?
  20. thanks all, i've left a message for AET anyway, fingers crossed
  21. Thanks for that mate! You you be confident in ordering off ebay like that? I plan to continue to use the same map once the turbo is replaced so i presume it needs to be exactly the same part, is that one the same as my k03s? hmm... the plot thickens
  22. i'd be there, only my car is currently still out of action, unless anyone can supply and fit a new turbo in the next 12 hours or so? :P
  23. Hi all! My beloved Octavia Mk1 is almost revived after some new inlet valves, tensioner, timing belt and some other bits, but now it turns out the Turbo is indeed well and truly dead. So... I need a new or decent second hand K03S Turbo. Anybody know somewhere reliable/reasonable to pick one up? And before everyone starts I've just not got the cash to look at upgrading to a bigger turbo/manifold so it's standard all the way! it's a recession you know! Thanks all, T
