  1. Its a 2015 Skoda 1.4 TSI with the DSG 7 DQ200 Gearbox, had a situation where the car while driving lost acceleration, got stranded and so I thought of restarting but the car wouldn't turn back on. It did turn back on couple of times if I removed and reinserted the 30 AMP fuse going to the gearbox. An indie checked it and said better claim warranty with dealer since there is a TSB on it for the hydraulic pump. Sent to dealer, dealer said nope, sorry 5000 GBP (in local currency) to replace mechatronic please. So I said no thanks, please send the car back to me. The fuse trick no longer worked after I got the car back. and after a lot of googling, decided to replace the mechatronic valve body but retain the old TCU since the indie working on it said it looked fine, no burn marks. Went ahead and got the job done but still no ignition, the VCDS says the auto trans controller is not reachable. I already checked the fuses and entire fuse box A and B, everything is in order. Should I replace the TCU as well now? Is there a way to confirm if its a connecter or an earth point issue? Attached a photo of the TCU i found the mechanic had whatsapped me
  2. Hi I have been told a tapping sound coming out of my 2.0 VRS is a faulty tappet and they have to be changed. I gave it to an independent garage so I will supply them the parts. I found a finger follower which looks like a combo of the Tappet and Lifter and the other 2 links are Tappet and Lifters separately. Am I right to assume the first link item is a combination kit of the items in the second 2 links or they are different and I should get 8 of each instead of 16 of just the first item? Should the Timing chain come out to access the part where the rockers are? If yes, can anyone suggest a good link for tools at a cheap price, since the garage dont work on german cars and they dont have the necessary tools for me but I still prefer to use that garage. The kit: https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/ina-7012460.html Rocker/Tappet: https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/ina-2384116.html Follower: https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/ina-2384237.html Thanks Mohamed
  3. Hi https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/oenumber/5q1816100a.html There's evaporator for 50 GBP and theres evaporator for 800 GBP... why is there such a wide range of pricing for the evaporators? I get in my country Taiwan made for 30 GBP I am not sure whats difference? Please enlighten. And I live in the Middle East with weather right now 50 C and Humidity 90%. Thanks
  4. Hi Sasha, Have you ever had to deal with the chrome strip around the AC vent peeling off? Its starting to come out on my car and I remember the dealer had repaired it once previously under warranty during a routine service.
  5. Hi there, I have a Skoda Octavia Vrs 2015.. I changed the compressor, an aftermarket similar to OEM Sanden, in February along with the drier but not the condenser itself. There was improvement in cooling because before that there wasn't any... but not to the extent of factory default, as it is on the family's Octavia 1.4. I am guessing the Vrs AC has issues due to smoking inside the cabin with windows down in a dusty country and weather hitting 50 C. I dont know... the 1.4 is driven by another person and its got significantly better cooling, and he's not that maintenance type of guy as well. The AC cools but not enough. I have it set to 3/4th in the evenings and full in the mornings and I sweat in the mornings and become fatigued by evening. So i thought, why not spray down the foam into the evaporator as seen on youtube, so I removed the pollen filter, the blower and found the hole that leads to the evaporator core (checked with endoscope) and sprayed half a bottle of Mannol foam into the evaporator core area until I can feel the foam reaching my finger through the hole, waited 10-15 minutes and then let the blower run with temp set at heat (after putting back the filter and blower that is). No difference in temperature of air coming out of the vent with the AC on, but I got few new problems after this exercise: 1) I noticed white powder all along the dashboard (window vent was open) and seat 2) after opening and closing vents a couple of times, the center vent dont push air any more. Its coming only from left and right. footwell vent was already not working 3) chrome strip around the center vent started to peel after i ran my hand over the vents to dust that white powder down Can anyone tell me what that white powder coming out of the vent is? Aluminium Oxide? Evaporator? Whats up with the vents? Have you faced the issue? Is it a dashboard removing repair? Any hints about the cooling problem? The chrome strip has anyone replaced before, is there a kit?
