  1. Hi again, I’m very grateful to everyone who’s replied on this topic. I’ve had the car two weeks now, and initially I was getting a bit stressed that I might have bought a car that I couldn’t live with. The cabin noise really was getting to me. I 100% agree that the road surface is the most crucial factor. Unfortunately in my area of Greater Manchester the noisy road surfaces are very much in evidence. Driving on the newly opened....well a couple of years ago... Manchester airport link road, is incredibly quiet and relaxing, but this is not typical. My previous car, a humble 2015 Golf estate, is extremely quiet, so, as one comment suggested, it does depend what you’ve driven previously. Also maybe as one contributor mentioned, you do get used to it a little, and I don’t think I’m noticing it quite as much now as in the first few days, and I’m trying to concentrate on all the good features of the car of which there are many. I’m going to try the sound deadening, to see if this helps . I’ll get some Dynamat , (unless anyone can suggest an alternative which is better or cheaper ?). I’m going to do the underfloor of the hatch and spare wheel well first, as this looks easiest to get at. Then maybe try the carpets under the front seats and inside the bulkhead. I was thinking of perhaps getting a car trimmer to do this bit, as I’m wary of taking up the carpets on a brand new vehicle in case I can’t get them looking as neat when I put them back. I’d be interested to know if anyone thinks this should be straightforward and I should try myself or leave it to someone more experienced. I don’t have a garage... well I do but it is full of things my wife won’t let me throwaway so unusable for its intended purpose. It would have to be done on my drive. Gary.
  2. I’ve only had the car a week so, not checked or adjusted the tyre pressures yet. I’ll give it a try. If it doesn’t work I’ll look at extra insulation. Thanks to everyone who replied.
  3. Hi, I’ve just taken delivery of a 21 registered Superb 1.5 tsi Sel. Overall I’m very happy with it apart from one issue... excessive road and tyre noise. This really takes the shine off the car for me. My previous car was a Golf estate, which I still own, and jumping from one into the other for comparison shows just how much noisier the Skoda is. The 1.5 petrol engine is very smooth and quiet so no issues there but tyre roar and other road noises make a considerable racket. It has 18” zenith wheels and is fitted with Continental tyres. I did drive one last year and found the road and tyre noise to be very intrusive, making it a less than relaxing driving experience. This was fitted with Continental tyres and things improved slightly when they were swapped for Pirellis. It would be an expense to swap tyres which are almost new, (500 miles), so I am reluctant to go down this route. I would be interested to know if any other Superb owners have found this to be a problem, and if anyone has any suggestions of solutions. Many thanks, Gary.
  4. Thanks for directing me to it . It works well. Gary
  5. Hi everyone, I’ve found a piece of free software, (mp3tag), which attaches the album artwork and seems to work fine on the Skoda . Possibly the original artwork that this replaces was oversized as you say. Either way this seems to resize it to a size that works. Thanks for all the help and advice. Gary.
  6. Hi Paikesejanku, thanks for this. I’m not sure how the size of the album art covers are measured. They are the ones which were embedded on the original albums which I put on the memory stick from cd’s. They all seem to appear on my Golf which has a much smaller screen than the Amundsen unit in the Skoda.
  7. Hi everyone, I’ve just got a 21 reg 1.5 petrol Superb Sel. It has the Amundsen media unit. I’m playing music via a usb memory stick connected into the input in the centre storage unit. When I use this memory stick for the same purpose in my Golf estate it displays the album cover artwork for the selection playing. It isn’t doing this in the Superb, does anyone know if there is there a setting I can change to enable this please ? Gary.
  8. Quick update, had to exchange this car. The dealer replaced the rear shock absorbers, even though there was nothing visibly wrong with them, but the issue remained, (in my head at least). The dealer (Mitchell Skoda Cheshire Oaks) have been brilliant. I’ve now got a new S el hatchback on order, hopefully arriving mid October. Fingers crossed it rides better than the estate. I’ve test driven several Superb hatchbacks and they seem much better than the estates in this regard. Has anyone else experienced this difference ?
  9. Just got a Superb sel exec with this system fitted. I’m finding it very disappointing , perhaps slightly better than the ones I tried with the standard system, but not much, and the basic sound system is not a good one. Having read the rave reviews on this site I’m wondering if mine is working properly, (I’ve bought the car used, one year old and 10k miles). Or maybe I need to try some adjustments to set it up better. Any suggestions welcome. Love this website by the way. Gary.
  10. Many thanks for that quick response, it’s a 1.5 tsi Dsg. I deliberately avoided the sportline, as a couple of reviews I read suggested it rode too firmly, but I’m now thinking I should have test driven one to try it. It’s a Skoda approved used so I’ve just been reading the benefits and it seems to say there is a 30 day exchange policy, so I may have to consider that if my wife can’t get used to it. Gary.
  11. I’ve just got a 2019 Superb sel exec estate and it has all these symptoms. Any bump or pot hole has it rocking from side to side and it takes a good while before it settles. Even on a motorway there is lots of lateral movement, so much so that my wife complains of car sickness.
  12. Hi, I’m new to this forum. Just got a 2019 Superb estate sel exec. Only had it three days. I love most aspects of the car but the suspension is driving me mad. I’ve come to this car from a Golf estate. The Superb just seems never to settle under any conditions. Any bump or pot hole seems to send it rocking from side to side and takes what seems like ages to subside. On a motorway although it never feels unstable, there is just constant lateral movement which I’m struggling to get used to, and which makes my wife feel car sick. Also on a motorway, although engine noise and wind noise are minimal, there is a lot of tyre roar, (seems deafening after the golf). It’s got 18 inch wheels with what I imagine are original Continental tyres, as it’s only covered 10k. Would love to know if anyone has experienced similar issues, and if any remedies can be suggested. Gary.
