I realised bought a 2nd hand 2007 Ambient Octavia TDI 1.6. With 86,000 miles. Halfway home on motorway, engine light come on and car loses all power. I take it to my local garage and they tell me it’s very sticky vanes and I pay £200 for the vanes to be Cleaned up and a fuel cleaner. Garage tells me they are moving great again and I should have no problems! I take it for a drive and get up to 80 on an incline and back into limp mode again! Turned the engine off and one and it’s great till I get to about 80 mph then same again.
I phone my garage who I trust and the mechanic tells me not to worry and bring it back Monday and it’ll be something straight forward like a sensor etc and not a big deal as I’ve already paid for Labour so I’ll just be charged for parts.
my wife wants me to demand my money back from the seller as opposed to pouring more money into it and being left with same problem. I really like the car and wish to share my garages enthusiasm that it’ll be an easy fix but have a bad feeling that after each ‘fix’ I’ll take it on the motorway and bang, limp mode again!
Could I have people’s thoughts please? Could this just be a bottomless pit of fixes that don’t work and something much more serious and costly which is the problem? Thanks in advance.
