  1. Many thanks @Rustynuts and @langers2k - I did wonder whether baseplate = cradle so thanks for clearing that confusion up for me. Given the absence of any diagnostic errors on the CANbus or the phone unit itself my current hunch is that the SIM cards themselves are coded to bar rSAP access. I'm going to reach out to a contact in the mobile world who may be able to tell whether that is a thing or not. I think I'll hook up Android Studio and capture the debug output from the S6 when the car is trying to negotiate the rSAP connection and see if that reveals anything.
  2. Hi, my 11 plate Superb MKII has a Novero HT-4 (model 5N0 035 730 D) fitted but for a long time (several years) I haven't been able to connect a phone to it via BT. It did work when I first bought the car (second-hand) in 2014. I've poked around at the problem a bit over the years and asked a Skoda dealer to look at it when it was in for a service once, They quoted me £1600 for a 'might' fix which was an offer I didn't take them up on. Recently, largely through want of somehting better to do, I've been researching the problem again. Symptom When attempting to pair a phone through the Maxidot about 50% of the time it will detect a local phone and allow me to pair with the 16-digit code. The other 50% of the time it will say 'no phone found' Once paired the Maxidot display changes to 'Connecting ...' then after 30 seonds or so says 'Connection not possible'. The phone is physically paired however as demonstrated by the fact I can stream music over it to the Columbus ICE. If I go into the BT settings on my phone and try to enable the 'call audio' slider the Maxidot refreshes and again says 'Connection not possible' Diagnosis Steps: I'm conscious that not all phones support rSAP required by the HT-4 unit and have been testing with a Samsung S6 (running Android 7.0) which supports rSAP 'out-of-the-box' as best as I can determine In an effort to rule out a SIM card compatibility issue I have tried 3 SIM cards in the S6; Vodafone, TalkMobile (abeit that is in effect VF) and 3. I have disconnected the wiring loom/connector from the HT-4 (even leaving it out overnight on one occassion) in an effort to reset it. I have restored factory settings through the Columbus Telephone menu Using OBDeleven, I ran a scan with the following results: No errors are reported on address 77 unless I enable 'Telephone baseplate diagnostics' in long-coding in which case it tells me 'telephone baseplate open circuit' There was an error on Address 56 (Radio) and Address 19 (Gateway) saying there was an 'intermittent' fault with the signal from the telphone transceiver however I reasoned this was likely because I had disconnected the wiring loom from the HT-4, so I cleared the fault codes, rescanned later and sure enough those two faults have not reappeared. I have wiped any stored BT profiles and upped the maxiumum permissible to 4 Questions: The only advice I have found in this and similar forms for other VAG makes (using the same hardware) for the 'telephone baseplate open circuit' error is to disable the baseplate diagnostics option. Sure I can make the error go away if I don't run the test but you could say the same about any error. Can anyone tell me whether an 'open circuit' error is something to worry about ? The OBDeleven also tells me that the software rev of the 5N0 035 730 D is 0511 but there is a later version available (0876). I haven't been able to find any information online about how I might update that. Does anyone have experience of doing this ? I'm pretty much at the end of the road in terms of inspiration what to try next. Grateful if anyone out there has any suggestions/advice. Nick
