  1. Well, an update..... Garage took sump off and indeed it had been holed from the inside....a top of a tappet, got wedged between the bottom of the oil pump and pushed it out through the sump! So....dismantled the top of the engine to see what's what. All rockers, tappets and lifters in tact, so it must have been from a previous failure and missed when rebuilt (possible cambelt failure??). They have checked as far as sensible for any more bits floating around in there but found nothing. Putting a new cambelt on for good measure. Awaiting the bill..... FYI - 67k miles, 2012, ex Police vehicle with FSH.....
  2. Oh yes, i hadn't thought of that. Thank you. I'll drain the remnants of oil and i have some metal putty ill jam in there. Another thought, the hole is under the "fabric" cover that covers the sump and zero damage to that. Its at the back of the sump. Will make sure the garage have a good look inside when its off.
  3. It is a very small hole, and just drips out. Garage is 2 miles.... Hopefully will make it....
  4. Well having had a closer look at it yesterday, I am not sure I am willing to risk getting some of the securing bolts off (the couple at the front are obscured). And on my back in the driveway in the thin smattering of snow is not that appealing..... I had a quick chat with the local garage and they can do it on Tuesday, so I shall fill up the oil, and get it there to them to do. He did say that the sump ordered would be paper thin, and better to fit an OEM one though. So will cancel that and leave it to them to get an OEM one. I am baffled by the hole though and how it happened. There is no way a stone can reach that part, due to the undertray and the location of the hole, and it has not been grounded (100% certain). Is there anyway a hole can be made from inside???
  5. Noticed a large pool of oil under car (Scout 4x4 2.0 CD TDI 2012), which hasn't been used a few days. Checked dip stick and nothing showing! Removed undertray and found a tiny hole in the sump. No damage evident anywhere on the undertray or sump, and certainly haven't grounded it. So, I have ordered a new sump from GSF (£45 with 60% discount). It looks fairly straightforward to replace with not much in the way. The questions are: 1. Is there a gasket available for this model engine? I cannot find one on the normal car part places, but it looks like there is one on there at the moment. Any links? 2. What could be the cause of the hole!!?? 3. Any tips for the replacement? I can't drive it to the local garage so will need to do myself. Thank you
  6. Hi, i am doing exactly the same installation as this, but am having problems..... All is working apart from the climatic display and parking display. I don't understand where to connect which cables. I have the exact same cables as listed above. Any help would be much appreciated! Photos of where the cables are connected would be even better! Thank you!!
