Hi Guys, I have very little general knowledge about cars so was wondering if you think anything is up... My engine coolant warning light came up yesterday telling me to fill it up, however it was only done around 2 months back now. Is that normal or something up perhaps? I have an 18 plate Octavia MK3 vRS230 TSI. Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone else has issues with their parcel shelf lifting up and flapping around with the breeze of the windows being down? I've had a look as best as I can to see if there's anything up with it but it appears to just not click into place on the holders behind the back seats. Anyone got any advice? It can get really distracting and irritating. Cheers PP09

I'd love the engine/engine point! Also, I'm so wary of scratching my new panels too.

I do have to agree with the Amundsen. I don't have to use it much upon start up but noticed already it's slightly slow.

Afternoon, This week I've bought my first ever Skoda in the form of a vRS230 DSG Octavia MK3 and absolutely LOVE it. However, I'm just wondering what some of you think could be improved on the model in all of its forms? Open to input on every aspect of the car (performance/tech/creature comforts/ aesthetics etc) Interested to hear other people's opinions. PP90

Haha - good luck with your decision! I'm sure you'll love whichever you choose because ultimately, they're brilliant cars! P.S You seem to know your stuff about car control on corners and bends.....its good to see!!! (And reassuring) I worry many people just think the gearbox will look after them and magically keep them on the road if they just plant their right foot down. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

I agree with you about the worries of stability around corners and bends. I have done training through my work with regards to driving at speed and car control etc. Gear control and accelerator sense around bends is one of the major aspects of keeping what you are doing safe and giving you the best possible control. This always put me off about DSG, however after having recently purchased one I think it just requires a bit of adapting on the driver's part. I find if I drop down a gear using manual with plenty of time, this does the job sufficiently. However, there are occasions when I have forgotten due to being engrossed in just letting the auto car do its thing. I have just had to adjust my right foot a bit more so when mid turn. No issues really just not ideal. I love the gearbox personally. Its my first ever auto and with the DSG I don't see myself going back. And that's a big statement because I have been very vocal over the years about manual being the best. However, I really can't deny that for certain road conditions, you can't beat the control a manual offers. However like I said above, its all about learning to adapt. The DSG allows you to get the same results, its just I need to go about it another way.

I've had a little mess around with basics this morning and agree with you. Dont think my model supports many of the features I'd have liked anyhow.

Hello, I anticipate this question has never been asked because I'm a bit of a newbie to cars etc and people probably already know the answer. At the risk of making myself look stupid.... But can somebody tell me what does the downward pointing arrow mean on my DSG gear lever below "drive" (see below picture) And what does it do? I'm scared to try it out without knowing 😬 As I say, I'm new, so apologies if that's a eye roller of a question! Cheers,

I've been trying to work out what is best for me also. I have only had the car a week (VRS230 DSG) and so I've obviously been thoroughly utilising the sport mode 👀. But I do drop it in to eco regularly when there's no opportunity to open the car up. I'd be interested to see, like others have mentioned in this thread, if there's much difference between 'normal' and 'eco'. But for now, since coming from a boring diesel Ford focus, I'm still having a grand old time with the sport mode and the excitement that offers!

I posted yesterday about advice regarding OBDELEVEN and peoples experiences of it/recommendations. Hi, Just bought my Mk3 Octavia vRS petrol with the DSG gearbox. (Absolutely made up with it!) Im new to the car mod scene and wondered if anyone has any thoughts on whether the OBDELEVEN device is worth a purchase?
