Default position is the 'uncooled' side. The actuator isn't sold separately, it's only a complete EGR cooler. Next step is to pull the actuator rod so the gases are going through the 'cooling' side. Preference is to have the recirculated gas 500 to 1000 degrees cooler, hopefully there's less chance of any residual damage...

Thank you, some useful info there. Bertie90, the actuator diaphragm that's failed is the one that sends the recirculated gases either through the cooler, or the 'uncooled' pipe. Not sure what the default position is, cooled or uncooked, so I'll run it for a bit and keep an eye on temperature and mpg. Hopefully it's stuck on the cooling side 🙂

Hi Bertie90 Initially I had a P0299 but after the turbo cleaner, and the Italian tune up on the M65, I was getting these ============1============== P2563 Raw code: 2563 ECU: Engine control unit Status: Pending OBDII: Turbocharger (TC) boost control position sensor - range/performance problem ============2============== 07286 Raw code: 001C76 ECU: Engine control unit Status: Test failed, Pending, Test failed since last DTC clear, Test not completed during this operation cycle Plugging the end of the vac hose, at the EGR cooler, has sorted the fault codes and limp mode. The Yeti has done 98000 miles so am a bit reluctant to replace the EGR cooler as there's a lot of dismantling (money) to get to it. Not sure exactly what the vacuum actuator does, in the EGR cooler. Do you know if it's a separate function to the actual EGR valve?

Had the same codes with my 2012 1.6tdi Yeti. Changed the MAP sensor, put a bottle of Wynns Turbo Cleaner in with 40lts of premium diesel and did around 100 miles keeping above 2500 rpm. Still the same, limp mode at random times EML light on. 4 hours at a local garage and they identified a faulty diaphragm in the EGR water cooler actuator. Quick fix was to blank off the vacuum hose to the actuator (it's the same vacuum circuit as the variable vane actuator on the turbo). The EGR cooler doesn't look to have been working for a while so I'm going to run it for a while before I make the decision to replace it. Not sure if anyone has posted this issue previously, apologies if I'm duplicating.
