Deactivate car alarm on ferry
KingAlfred replied to KingAlfred's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk III (2014-2021)
I had assumed that all modern cars have some form of an alarm fitted as standard. I have just opened the driver's side window before locking the car and trying to set the alarm off by rocking the car and by waving my arm through the open window as suggested. Result - nothing happens! Conclusion - no alarm, so no chance of it adding to the cacophony of car alarms on the ferry car decks. Thanks for leading me to the answer (glad I have the use of a visible steering wheel lock now) -

That's what I feared - only option is to leave the car unlocked while on the ferry. -
Deactivate car alarm on ferry

Quote from the manual: As soon as the interior monitor detects movements inside the locked vehicle, it triggers the alarm. As soon as the anti-towing protection detects tilts in the locked vehicle, it triggers the alarm. These functions should be deactivated if there is a possibility that the alarm will be triggered by movements (e.g. by people or animals) within the vehicle interior or if the vehicle has to be transported (e.g. by train or ship) or towed. › Switch off the ignition and open the driver's door. › Press the button on the centre column on the driver side; the symbol lights up in the button. › Lock the vehicle within 30 seconds. Safelock is switched off during deactivation. I have rechecked the door pillars just now, but there isn't a button - just the front seat belt mountings. -
I recently drove my Portuguese-registered, 2018 Fabia Break Ambition 1.0 TSI 95hp back to the UK from Portugal, but was unable to deactivate the car alarm on the ferry. I have checked both B pillars for a possible switch but there isn't one. Any suggestions for avoiding the alarm being triggered on my return journey?
