  1. Returning member after 10 years 🙋‍♂️ I do remember from way back then that there were tried/tested upgrades, just wondering if these are still the "go-to" mods LCR console bushes Eibach springs/Bilstein shocks VAG 312mm front brakes or LCR Brembos IT will also need a clutch shortly, as well as a steering rack. Any advice on those would be appreciated
  2. Back in the fold after an absence of nearly 10 years, having just bought an 06 Fabia vRS Previously owned an 03 vRS, which was my pride and joy, and was sold in 2009 Been through a Leon Cupra R, Golf GT TDi, amongst a huge selection of Land Rovers. When this Fabia came up, I couldn't say no 😅
  3. I had a mapped vRS, not long after getting it it had a blast with a mate in a 2.2 VTEC Prelude, the one with the square-ish headlights, and approx 182bhp From a rolling start, around 30-40mph, right up until the top end of 4th gear (71 mph officer ) there was absolutely nothing in it, until I had to change into 5th gear. Didnt quite have the power to stay with it after that, whereas the Prelude was still in its VTEC power band. After the first blast (to just over 71 mph) he even phoned me and was surprised at just how quick it was. This was tested more than once, as I was still suffering from "New Toy Syndrome" and every time the same result. Even still averaged 45mpg on the way home I assume it would have been a completely different story had it been a standing start, but never had the chance to try that out...
  4. I am looking to have my PD130 Golf mapped in the not too distant future. Could you PM me over some details, and a price, if you wouldn't mind Have had a car done by Star Performance in the past, so am aware of them too
  5. Parada Spec2's stick like **** to a blanket in the dry, but lethal in the wet. Lift-off oversteer in the damp/wet... They were pretty noisy, managed 12k out of a set, and had one "bulge" and cause a vibration...
  6. My bad, its £219 + VAT. Never noticed that... http://diagnostic-equipment.co.uk/vshop/diagnostics/diagnostics/vag-com/14-65
  7. My contract is up in a few months. Currently have an HTC Sensation, and I will be going for the Galaxy S3 next Doesn't help you at all, I know...
  8. I lowered mine, and aligned it myself at work. I went for as close to factory settings as I could, never had any issues with handling or tyre wear afterwards
  9. Mine needed done at 44k, as it was slipping. Bought it from the dealer on Friday, went back in under warranty on the Monday :( On the plus side though, free clutch, and showed no signs of slipping again when it was sold at 84k miles
  10. You have a PM My issue with the standard 288's was even as a standard (non-mapped) car, they felt as though they struggled to slow the car down properly. Pedal felt good, until you had to stand on the pedal, then it was just ****... I even managed to have all 4 discs glowing, and almost no brakes at all, driving down the A93 (Braemar-Blairgowrie road, great fun ) Car was then mapped, and upgraded to 312's with EBC Redstuff pads. Never suffered from fade again, ever, despite the extra power, and inevitably driving faster...
  11. I was £407 with Brentacre when I had my vRS. Also used them with my BMW, but when it came to renewal time, the only knocked off £50, which was still £250 dearer than my cheapest quote. They did say they would price match if I emailed them over the details of the cheaper quote etc, but I left it a bit late, as the insurance ran out that day, and I was away from home etc...
  12. I have a complete 312mm setup for sale if you are interested
  13. I had brake fade on a standard vRS, all 4 discs glowing and no brakes whatsoever... The standard 288mm setup is utter sh*te, hence why everyone upgrades to the 312mm setup Once I fitted the 312's, I never had an issue with slowing down again. To upgrade yours, I would imagine you are going to need the larger hubs, as well as the bigger brakes
  14. Been a few on Ebay recently, unsold at circa. £5k... Very tempting at that price
  15. Also says on the 2nd page that LED bulbs are not approved for use in exterior lamps... I wonder how many people that have posted in this thread have some LED sidelight bulbs, or no. plate bulbs etc
  16. Let me know how this goes. I work in Auchterarder and was tempted to give him a try
  17. For comedy purposes, or for a meaningful experiment?
  18. A RARB will make the back end stiffer, and more prone to lift-off oversteer... My Fabia was pretty similar in the wet. I was running Yoko Parada Spec 2's, and on Eibach's. You would struggle to break grip in the dry, but were pretty useless when it was wet. Front end wanted to push on if you went into a corner a bit quick, and if you lifted off, the back end started to come round. I got used to it pretty quickly, and could anticipate what corners it was likely to happen on, and slow down accordingly before getting to the corner
  19. I couldn't put the young lad's car seat behind the drivers seat whenever I was driving. Always had to go on the opposite side of the car, behind the missus. Don't have that issue with the Golf...
  20. I was in exactly the same position as you just a month ago. Heart wanted another Fabia vRS, head decided upon a Mk4 Golf GT TDI (The 130 version)... Despite the Golf being a bigger car, it weighs approx 70kg less than the Fabia Same engine code as the Fabia, and same power/torque etc. The Golf is excellent at muching up motorway miles, but pretty dull with some 'spirited' driving. Bigger boot, and more rear legroom though The Fabia was also excellent on the motorway, but was much more lively and entertaining crossing A roads and B roads. Didn't really like to seat 4 adults for too long though. It is a bit cramped in the back The missus also had a Mk5 GT TDI (140bhp) and was much nicer to drive than the Mk4, but again, doesnt really inspire confidence on country roads, but very refined and easy to drive... Would still like another Fabia when the bank balance allows it though
  21. Just sold a set of 312's this morning. Sold them for £130, complete, though without discs and pads I have another set available at £150 too, which seems about the right price IMHO
  22. I ran 2 stroke in my old Fabia for 3 years, and 45k miles. After the first bottle, I noticed: Less smoke on startup, and WOT Slightly better fuel consumption Engine started easier, and ran much smoother, and quieter A big thumbs up from me, and now running it in our Mk4 Golf. Just picked it up, will report back again
  23. Just bought some oil and a filter (and a sump plug) from my local TPS. £24 inc VAT...
  24. I have a set of calipers and carriers available. Just up the road from you too
