  1. Hi, The module part number is... 5N0 035 730 D I believe this is really old tech. Any advice on a replacement module? Best Trenchman
  2. Thanks bud. Will do. I suspect you're right about the rSAP thing and I may have to get an updated Bluetooth module!
  3. Thanks for the reply, which I would act upon if I had any idea of what it meant! 😁 I've successfully paired the phone via the MFD (it appears as 'SKODA_rSAP' on my phone) but it gives me a 'connection fail' message on the MFD. I've tried to find out what Bluetooth protocols my phone has, but alas I've drawn a blank.
  4. Hi Everyone I finally got round to pairing my Sony Xperia L2 (Android) to my Columbus unit (repaired by RustyNuts - thank you) After much messing about it paired (yay!) but I keep getting a message on the MFD stating that it cannot connect. I have no idea about sRAP, mobile phones, bluetooth modules and all that tech stuff - I just want my phone to connect so I can play some tunes (vital!) and integrate my phone into the system (voice calls and all that but not essential) I know this has been dealt with many times and I've searched the forum but walk away more baffled than ever (what the hell is 'recoding a CANBUS'?) Can anyone help? Please... Trenchman
  5. Just to say thanks to everyone who gave me advice. Disconnecting the battery for 30 mins magically manifested sound from the speakers. My original Columbus is off to Rustynuts tomorrow. As Rustynuts pointed out I've probably wasted my time since this A-sure unit will be swapped out next week. The battery fix didn't cost time, money or effort and at least I'll have tunes in the (short) meantime. Trenchman
  6. Hi Rustynuts, Jeez - that is a rapid turnaround! Can you tell me where to send and I'll fire it off tomorrow. Many, many thanks. Trenchman (Rob)
  7. Thanks to a666andy and rover220 I have some of my problems explained/solved. 1. Will try battery disconnect tomorrow. Is there anything I should know? (codes; resets; warnings, etc)
  8. Thanks to a666andy and rover220 I have some of my problems ecplained/solved. 1. Have used the GPS aerial that came with the new unit and Satnav now works. 2. Yes, passenger airbag warning light was disconnected while ignition on. Will get it wiped at some point in near future. Thanks Chimaera. You were bang on the money.
  9. Thanks Rover, I'll give that a whirl tomorrow.
  10. Thanks for the tips Andy. It's very much appreciated for this Skoda first-timer. Always had ancient and Venerable Toyota Landcruisers (and a 1966 Buick Gran Sport 400 currently awaiting restoration) so I'm used to very lo-tech stuff! The car is a revelation. It's brilliant! Trenchman
  11. Hi everyone! Got my new (well, 09) Superb 4x4 170 today. She's lovely! But... 3 x problems (possibly connected) 1. Factory Columbus was doing the endless re-boot thing (Rustynuts has kindly offered to fix it) The dealer included a new A-sure W7 system that I'll remove after Rustynuts fix cos it's cheap tat. My mate fitted it because I'm a know-nothing. All connectors fitted OK (apparently) and it comes on and all that. Problems... A. Cannot get any sound out of it. (the car has the upgraded speakers by the way if that makes any difference) B. Satnav cannot find a GPS signal C. Amber airbag warning light has come on + "Airbag Fault" in the matrix display (the connection to the passenger airbag "off" warning light was disconnected and then reconnected) Any ideas? Should I be worried? Best Rob (Trenchman)
  12. Thanks mate! I'll probably have a million daft questions but if you don't ask you don't get! 😁
  13. That is YELLOW! Fab looker!
  14. Hi, I'm Rob and I've just bought an '09 Superb Mk II 170 4x4 (picking her up in few weeks). For the last 16 years I've driven motorcycles and Series 80 Toyota Land Cruisers (last one was a' 95 model) so it'll be a bit weird to get into a car that is... a) close to the ground b) modern (ish) I'm suffering from terminal cancer and so this is my 'treat' after undergoing chemo and a transplant (successful - I'm in remission for now) Researching and market watching the car help keep me going through some of the worst times. Nice to be aboard and look forward to finding out why everybody raves about Skodas! 😁
  15. That is so nice of you. Thank you. Searching out the Skoda while receiving treatment was one thing that kept me going so this is something of a very special car to me. I look forward to picking her up in a few weeks and hopefully joining the Skoda family I've found on this forum!
  16. Thanks Mucker I think I've seen your posts about this. I won't be collecting her for a few weeks (I have terminal cancer and I'm still recovering from a transplant to keep me going a bit longer! 😁) but when I do I'll remove the unit and send it off to you. Cheers Trenchman
  17. Thanks Ethel! Much appreciated!
  18. Hi everyone! After many years of running old Toyota Land Cruisers I've taken the plunge and put down a deposit on an '09 Mk II Skoda Superb 170 4x4 with 123,000 on the clock, FSH, cambelt and waterpump at 97,000 and a 2yr warranty. It's from a very reputable independent dealer, the Columbus isn't working (Skoda screen comes up but then goes dead adtgen repeats this process) but he has included a brand new unit (I do not know whether genuine Skoda or just a' replacement'). Before I commit to the full amount is there anything I should know/ask/demand! Cheers Trenchman
