Hello all, just bought an Octavia Scout Estate 1.8 petrol, 2 previous owners 87000 miles.........got it home and asked the mechanic to go over it..........crank case seal gone..... replaced....10 mile later POP! Crank case seal gone, motor not healthy, a rare and expensive engine...... Decide to recondition engine, got it back a week later and spent all weekend under said motor getting familiar fitting it. All fixed and running in 47 miles on the clock. Motor was previously "reconditioned", 3 snapped con rod cap bolts and so badly honed that it wore the skirts off the pistons! You know what they say when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. So I'm here and at the moment happy with the car ( holding thumbs). Got some usual issues like instrument illumination which I would like to fix and fit Bluetooth. So that is my sorry story
