  1. Hi Gaz! Cheers for your reply. Blimey that's a lot of power.... I'm more than happy with the 220hp it's got TBH, and will rarely be using it all, unless I want a lot of sick to come out of my toddler. You have also made me realise I've been capitalising GTi and VRS incorrectly... it should be GTI and vRS! Already learning from the forum 😄
  2. Just been underneath to check it all out and everything looks in good condition which is reassuring. Also found out it has a detachable Westfalia tow bar which is a nice bonus! I took the wheels off, put a bit of grease between them and the hubs and torqued the wheel nuts up properly. Don't know who did them up before but I had to get the breaker bar out... The pressure in the spare wheel was also low, despite it being on the dealers "150 point inspection" checklist. I've found it's very worthwhile to do this when taking ownership of a new car, the last thing you want when getting a flat is to find the wheel nut wont come off or the spare is half flat itself - which would inevitably happen in the middle of nowhere, at night, in the rain!
  3. Ha, yes, the blue isn't a very subtle colour! I hadn't thought about getting it mapped actually, tend to leave my cars unmodified which has helped with re sale in the past. Although I do have a remapped Land Rover and 2 remapped New Holland tractors so I'm not against it at all... maybe I should look into it!
  4. Hello all, This weekend saw the sale of my mk5 golf GTi after a very enjoyable 3 years ownership. The best car I've owned by a long shot (and I've owned plenty), and not just because it didn't depreciate at all! It only took me a day to replace it with another VAG 2.0 TSI engine though, and I'm now the proud owner of a mk3 Octavia VRS estate. So far I'm loving the combination of a punchy 2 litre engine in a big comfortable estate with enough space to take the wife, baby, dog and all their many many belongings on holiday (which I will be doing at the end of October). Thanks for the welcome to the forums, I'm sure they will be a useful library of advice for the years ahead with my Skoda. Cheers, Pigman
