  1. Hello guys I have a question Octavia 1.5 petrol the car has three-and-a-half thousand miles my question is should I use Redex now every 6 months to keep the valves and the engine inlets and obviously spark plugs and fuel system clean but I have been told no do not use Redex it can harm the engine my old Vauxhall every 6-months putting in there . have been putting in every thousand miles. in the Octavia V-Power obviously other cleaning agents in the top fuel Tesco's also supply a good top cleaning agent fuel would also be sufficient ,,,,but my question is about Redex do you guys advised it or not now I'm not talking about going bloody stupid I was thinking just the correct measurements every 3rd tank full which is roughly 1000 miles for what I do๐Ÿ˜Ž
  2. Ok go to try the car without it if it causes an issue I'll put it back in very rarely drive in the snow anyway just look like a stupid thing that was in there not really worried about performance but I thought I'd give it a bit of a better air flow I'll give it a couple of months and just have a quick look in their see if I'm getting any moisture should be able to tell by the air filter in marked by damp thank you for the advice
  3. Yes I thought I just take it out looks a bit useless only get one day of snow in the UK where I live plus I don't drive in snow leave the car indoors what was the thing about blocking of the ducting known as pinking didn't quite get that but quite happy with your advice thank you very much
  4. Hi guys new Octavia been a year to take out the air filter and just giving a quick once over make sure it's all clean not a problem absolutely immaculate what is the question I have another plastic filter vented gauze or some kind of restrictive little plate I'm sure somebody said once on a forum it is a snow filter it can be removed but my question is should I just get rid of it so I can get better airflow I've never seen this another cars it is quite easy to remove has anybody else got any ideas or tips at the present moment I have removed it right to hear somebody says put it back chances than me driving the baby in the snow do not take the baby at in the snow no even previous cars have never left the drive when it snows thanks guys
  5. Hurrah thanks buddy just a quick question about tea bag header tank ok I will look into it it but if you could just explain and yes build quality on this car is very good love it to bits it's got a handbrake thank God and a manual gearbox and 3 pedals and it's got analogue clocks just like my trustee or Vauxhall Zafira which I had for 17 years yes you're right the accountants came into GM at the end and destroyed it but when the French bought it that was my end of of the love affair with Vauxhall all we've had Vauxhalls in the family since 78 the Skoda Octavia 1.5 petrol hatchback in silver SE with the Denman wheels absolutely stunning it's got what is referred to as the Black pack on it and yes I suffer from OCD but she is a beauty and the best part I only paid 16 grand for it in the middle of krone they couldn't sell these cars at the end because the new model was coming out they reduced its so much and free delivered it hopefully I'll keep the little bugger for another 16 years thanks for the help been most helpful
  6. General antifreeze and coolant .my vehicle had it coolant putting on the 1st of the 10th 2019 th when it rolled off the assembly line in Czechoslovakia I didn't get used until I bought it till the 1st of the 8th 20 the car only had 11 miles on the clock and it was brand new and had been covered not exposed to the elements in all those months , now is this antifreeze and coolant long life 1 how many years does it stay in a vehicle before you have to change it obviously there are a lot of long life coolant out there air I'm presuming that's what the factory put in in and I presume that after 3 years the last service would be a coolant change am I correct in thinking this and would you guys advised me to get a coolant ((antifreeze checking device))) that lets me know if it's breaking down vehicle goes in Monday to have its first oil change but what they don't know is I've done a sneaky oil change when it it had 1000 miles didn't want all that metal in there thanks guys I've been a Vauxhall man long life this is my first VAG car
  7. Mine is a 1.5 petrol
  8. Just a random question is the water pump on this particular mark 3 model a electric is it driven by a cambelt just wondered I know a lot of water pumps now or electric but I don't think this one is thanks guys
  9. Right strange question if you have a Ford you go to mounting to have the vehicle tuned and and enhance the performance which is done through Ford is there an equivalent VW or Skoda arrangement basically you take the vehicle to VW and they would tune it for you and guarantee it
  10. That is the problem nobody actually knows but thank you for the input a bit more investigation I suppose
  11. I was afraid of that but I have seen a wired chip interface that goes between the stop start switch on the console and it turns the switch on permanently me personally I don't want to go down that route unless I have to to I rather just cold it out but you have also corrected my suspicions that VAG group have now messed with this switch stopping people coding it out
  12. Just a quick question of you but is it possible now too cold out out stop and start with the OBD reader on these 2019 to 2020 Skoda VW models interested on your thought
  13. I don't think on the 2019 this function can be turned off with a OBD reader correct me if I'm wrong
  14. Thanks mate brilliant answer to my problem
  15. ****ing love it brilliant absolutely brilliant answer hopefully on this 2019 model the problem is now fixed so basically it's a interface between the stop start button and a computer many thanks
  16. Forgive if I have asked this question before but did not realise that the forum gives me a technical and upgrade section to ask questions to the wider Skoda community not just my particular Octavia Mark 3 I am led to believe that VW the parent company ...have deleted the option for the stop and start so if I buy an obd11 because it was withdrawn because of dieselgate by VW I cannot turn this function off because it does not exist something to do with modules the date I was told I'll 2019 May 2020 May obviously the mark 4 Skoda Octavia is released in 2020 May I cannot get a clear answer on this can somebody advise me stop and start is the vein of my life I've had the car a year and it is so annoying just want to delete it
  17. I did think the same I will look into this thank you for pointing me in the right direction I'll have to phone up a VW specialist garage that does coding just to ask him the simple question yes or no and this particular year of model yes I would have thought on the newer models that's just come out but on the Old Mark II I think it should still be the same didn't want to buy a obd11 and find it didn't work
  18. Just curious what actually happens on a second service , what do they actually do. Do they do another oil change to change filters break fluid do they do the coolant
  19. Hi mate did you get your delete kit from Euro equipment and what was equality like going to purchase mine this weekend did removing the motor throw up any error codes I was just going to pull the fuse out and then take the motor out mine is a mark 3 hatchback would love your input
  20. Hi it has been suggested that cars built 2019 May to 2020 May have had the stop and start option terminated because of diesel gate so you are not allowed to code them anymore is this correct or is it is a misconception thank you for previous post
  21. Just read this post I personally would not have any issues with the Skoda Octavia gearbox when I patches my car a year ago but as other posters have said with the problem does not clear up in the first Thousand Miles take it back to the garage insist that a mechanic sits with you while you take it for a drive then let him drive it you sit in the passenger seat hopefully the problem will go away on the 1st thousand miles this is why I bought a manual car do not like automatics but if people are having issues with brand new gearboxes absolute disgrace hopefully just got a tight gair box that needs working in I would like to know what the outcome was hopefully it's a happy ending๐Ÿ˜Ž
  22. Ok then I will leave you for a little while just curious what do you mean by stripes what does that exactly mean I'm just interested so at this present moment cannot turn on Scandinavian drl and cannot turn off stop and start on this present car help me in the future somebody like a oBD11 will work around it much happier now I know where I stand
  23. My was built on 31.9 .2019 hopefully there will be a work around in the future thank you for letting me know
  24. I got a mark 3 is this new for the mark 4 that prevent you from deleting stop and start but I'm sure somebody somewhere will be able to put a code in in the near future thank you for your input
  25. Was using Carista to change the Scandinavian lighting on your car a easy thing to do do did you have any error problems and will this device also turn off stop and start
