  4. Dude I have a question for you in particularly Seems you know you're s*** when it comes to To skodas Just done the oil change on the Skoda 1.5 petrol My question to you is The dreaded sub nut Had a washer built Intuit Which obviously you cannot separate But when I went down to Skoda garage and my favourite parts bloke who doesn't know what he's up to Too but didn't check the registration they gave Me a aluminium cramp Washer But as I am a very careful Home mechanic with a torque wrench I I cleaned the original nut It was spotless with no damage at all to the washer And put it back to the correct torque Why are there two different types of nut with two different types of washer Am I missing something Or is one factory fitted and the other that we put on afterwards when we do or changes Not being boring Just was curious Thanks dude much appreciated
  5. Jesus Christ am I being annoying by asking a question about a sump washer thanks to the guys who put me straight so when I ramp the car up and I've took the damn thing apart I've got all the right bits thank but I find that some of you guys think I'm being a ****ing annoying but asking a simple question on a forum sorry my bad I've been used to Vauxhall for a last 37 years until the bleeding French took it over so all these VW technology is a bit different for me but hey ho I can still take a spanner to a motor and not pay a garage know I'm I'm being annoying 😆😆😁😀😂🤣😄😃😅😎
  6. Ok guys before I get myself in the **** got to do an oil change just want to know the sump nut on my Skoda Octavia 1.5 petrol now this one is a 2019 model obviously a mark 3 does the sump nut have to be replaced and can you get the bloody washer off and replace it with a new one not a problem just want to check I presume is like all the other cars of all before if you're very careful you can get one or two more uses out of it I would use a torque wrench on both the filter and the nut 30 Newton metres is about the right ok guys is this washer resetted into the nut should I order a spare one it a question probably been answered 1000 time but I can't find the page up on the forums on my old Vauxhall I had a rubber in set inside the nut only changed it once in 16 years are the sump aluminium or are they Steel is the nut aluminium just want to make sure before I get into it I always like to keep a spare oil filter and a sump nut just in the event of problems all advice would be much appreciated

  9. Just curious does this engine have a rev limiter on cold days I presume (((( it doesn't))))))))))but I don't go ,,,,,,,over 3000,,,,,, revolutions anyway on a cold morning until it gets to about 70c Just curious does this engine have a rev limiter on cold days I presume (((( it doesn't))))))))))but I don't go ,,,,,,,over 3000,,,,,, revolutions anyway on a cold morning until it gets to about 70c
  10. Just curious what do you regard as operating temperature I thought 70c was about right what's your input would be most grateful
  11. Yap mate getting a handle on this now think you guys on the Forerunner really helped with my issue just didn't want to run into problems further on down the line on those very hot days keep an eye on the water temperature and if it hits 120 on the oil temperature I'm going to pull over and have a beer until it cools down
  12. Thanks friend that really does help me gives me a good guidance the only reason because these are newer engines I didn't want to have a problem in the event I went on the German autobahn for a damn good Italian tuning and blue my car up ok I'm just dreaming I'll keep an eye on the good old trusted reliable coolant gauge and if it hits 120c on pulling over and having a sandwich until it cools down😂🤣
  13. I just wondered how High the temperature gauge goes and does the vehicle warn me when he gets too hot hot let's say I'm stuck in traffic in London on a very hot day at what point do I start to worry I will stick to the oil guidelines and manufacturer guidelines I was only curious when I had my Vauxhall all didn't concern me me because there was no turbocharger and I ran 5:30 t-top spec oils did not ever have any issue but the damn thing never had an all gauge just a temperature gauge which I now realise on modern cars doesn't mean Diddley it's the oil gauge you should look at at which I was lucky was pointed out to me bye my somebody who knows all about modern engines and turbochargers when thrush them when they're hot I usually take it easy until the temperature has hit 70 Celsius I was only curious about the top end temperature very interesting modern engines and turbo chargers does this engine come with any form of oil cooler I do not suppose it does but just curious thanks bud as always been immense help
  14. I have a question guys the digital oil temperature gauge starts about 50, c I've seen 110,c how high does it go up to at the most importantly at what point should I concern myself let's theorise it hits 170 not that I've ever seen it what is a dangerous temperature just for my future reference being that these oils nowadays are very thin not that I'm going to be going on a race track but I was thinking of going to Germany next year and give it a good lrun on the autobahns sometimes if I'm sitting in traffic in London and watching the gauge climb I just wondered what is the Dangerous level or does the car warn me getting too hot thank you guys
  15. Thanks mate that really helps me don't want always go down thing
  16. Hi guys on the Mark 3 1.5 petrol how much oil do I need is it under 5 litres
  17. Thank you mate I'm going to be using 0 20-w when you look at it on eBay or other site does it come in the cardboard box or is that just a box for the plastic one inside it yep I think I will go for that I'm doing a a service at 1500 miles in between the main dealer service with genuine parts I don't trust all that metal flying around in there are because I am going to be keeping the vehicle for 12 years the garage that deliver the car is 300 miles away thank you for confirming all the best
  18. Just asking a quick question about an oil manufacturer if you guys to recommend it or not ,,,quantum ,,,, which I understand is a VW recommended supplier of oils comes in what looks like a cardboard box TPS supply it please give all thoughts thank you you p.s. it looks like a grey box with cube written on the side of it
  19. Thank you for confirming the oil yes I'm thinking of doing an oil change after 1500 miles of running in I do not believe where I got the car from they did any form of PDI the service records are all out of line nothing was set when they were supposed to set I because after a month of receiving the car it was telling me it had to have an oil change i had to reset it it after reporting it to the garage which unfortunately for me is 300 miles away they were supposed to do all this back in March when they took delivery of the vehicle I bought the car on August 1st the original oil was putting the 1st of October 2019 I took delivery of the vehicle 1st of the 8th 2020 t due to their **** up the first service is not until 1st of September this year so we are going to do a service on the oil with genuine VW Skoda parts have done 100 loads of all changes over the years should not be a problem we won't leave a mark but thank you for this mystery on the oil I got told it left the factory 5-30 then got told first service is going to have have 0 -20₩ thank you once again
  20. Thanks mate just curious would a 74 ml oil filter removal tool be the right one I need for this oil filter cartridge I'm presuming the ones on eBay that are VW Audi seat Skoda all the same size for the filter I require I know you're going to stay hand tighten it but it doesn't hurt just use a torque wrench on one of them thank you for import
  21. Would you know the torque setting for the sump plug that look really help I'm presuming 20 Newton metres is it worth buying go to socket so you can put a torque wrench on it or just do it like the good old days and tight thanks bud
  22. Thanks mate I was just automatically assuming that my had a plastic so I just have a normal metal one with a normal nut to drain the oil with a washer on it I presume it would be copper or plastic rubber oil filters do I have a paper cartridge one or is it the same old metal ones just curious
