  1. hi thanks for the reply. It has now started working! strange
  2. Hi everyone. So my Superb is running like a dream but..................when the indicator clciked back into place, there was a clicking sound coming from the dashboard, around the centre of it and it sounds like the indicator but goes very fast and/or intermittenly. It does it when it feels like it but what seems to start it off is when I indicate. All the indicators are working on and when it goes into clicking overdrive the lights themselves don't come on nor do the ones on the dashboard. I have seen on here a couple of commentas about the heater doing this but I don't think so, as it sounds like the indicator clicking sound. Anyone got any ideas???
  3. thanks for the suggestion but the tapes not chewed. I spooled it on and back but no signs of chewing. I wonder if somehow it's magnetised the heads in the player. I ran a de-magnitiser tape through it but no luck so perhaps i'm way off base too! Anyone out there that can help?
  4. Hi all. I have the Symphony stereo with the tape player in my Superb - which I have been using to play all my old tapes that I don't have or can't get on cd. Today though, I put in a tape and couldn't hear it. Turned the volume to max and all I could hear was what sounded like music recorded underwater! I played the tape on another tape deck I have and the same thing happened, so I tried another tape that works fine and this did the same. I dug out an old tape headcleaner and ran it through the home system and the tape (that had already played ok) now sounded like new. So I tried the headcleaner in the car steroeo but no joy:( It seems that the tape had caused all the problems so that's now binned, but any idea how I can sort out the in car stereo, as I really would like to carry on playing my tapes!!
  5. oh err yes of course (HAVING A THICK MOMENT THEN). o, what's the suggestions for 225/45/R17, bearing in mind cash is tight?
  6. hi all. I've got to get 2 new front tyres and cash is tight (just had a cambelt change and full service). My Elegance currently has 4 x 225/45 R17 on it, but could it run ok on 205/55 R16's? thanx
  7. Hi same problem. Can someone let me know what power steering fluid I need to put in my 05 plate superb 1.9 TDi? thanks
  8. well they've replaced the convenience control module and had all the flooring up and can't find the problem. It's not wet, they've checked the plenium etc etc. They have sent off for a new diagnostic disc from VW and this detected a broken wire. This has now been replaced and.... still not solved the problem. They have me over a barrel, as I need the car for my work and if I hand it back/request a refund, i'll have lost out on getting the insurance changed, the tax disc ( i got a 12 month one the day I bought the car) etc. Okay, they've given me a passat to use until mines fixed, but that's not the point. I don't know what to do :( :( :(
  9. So, I picked up the 03 plate Superb on Friday and I had to return it to the dealer ship on Monday morning! All the interior lights not working, mirror lights not working, central locking only works for the drivers door (on the remote) etc etc. Now it's saturday and they still can't trace the fault - it's not the wet floor syndrome though, as they have had that all out and done the diagnostics etc and they're stumped. So, i've got the loan car for another week! Anyone got any suggestions as they are having no luck!!
  10. Hi all I made the plunge and bought an 03 plate Superb elegance today. Drove it home from Derby and it was great. Only prob is the central locking. It only opens the drivers door despite the other knobs moving slightly but not releasing. I've tried clicking the button twice but no joy. The only way to open them is to use the key in the lock or to press the button on the drivers door. I did read the other posts about this but none of them mention that the motors whirring and the buttons "wiggling". Any suggestions?
  11. I have given back to my employer today a fully expensed astra and gone for the case option and bought an 03 pllatre superb. The reason? I need comfort for the amount fo miles I drive (due to an old back injury) and the astra has made my bacl prob 100 times worse. I was having to drop painkillers like sweets before, during and after a long journey. Why anyone would choose to own one is beyond me. It's the most uncomfortable car I have ever driven - and I had a skoda 135i back in the day!!
  12. okay, now i may be acting really thick here, but i've just opted out of the fully expensed co. car scheme and gone for the cash option/mileage instead. My question is: As they will pay me 14p per mile (diesel) and the government allowance is 40p per mile (for the first 10000 miles), does this mean I will also get the difference of 26p per mile back as tax relief? i.e. I will still get 40p per mile but split between my employer and the government? I'm really confused
  13. this is what happens when you let women get behind the wheel of a car. Jeez, why couldn't they stay in the kitchen where they served a purpose
