Faulty water pump- Replaced water pump and got timing belt changed at same time as same expense - fixed problem - you never said if you can see leaking coolant under engine or on engine tray ? water pump failing is a common issue with these apparently. If you have been topping up with water I recommend getting a coolant flush done at same time also. Hope this helps.
