Morning all, Ok another update after another visit to garage and more work: - Not the Fuel Pump - Not the Glow Plugs - Not Timing related - New Starter fitted - New Fuel Injector Pump fitted last week As mentioned in my previous post it was showing Camshaft fault code - so a new Camshaft sensor was fitted Now that error is gone it is showing another camshaft error "camshaft sensor not synchronizing" (don't have code to hand) After all this work the main starting problem is still there (and this morning on a colder morning if struggled that bit more) Anyone any ideas on camshaft sensor if this could be related to the starting issue? I've also read on other areas of this forum that the ECT sensor could be cause of the start issues too? Thanks

Thank you Sepulchrave & Thomasaspin for the replies Thomasaspin, thanks I tried that but no luck. when I turn the key to point before it turns over the Glow Plug light appears just for a split second and goes off. Tried a few times and I've even left it at that position for a few seconds to see if it helps and no difference. It takes a few chugs/turns before it starts up, once the car is running it runs fine, no loss of power or cutting out etc. also it looks like it had a new fuel filter fitted at last service few weeks ago too and everything seems solid. no error codes on ECU either.

Thanks for reply sepulchrave Just wondering would it be glownplugs? Reason I ask is the problem was always there (hot or cold) one day will start no problem later that day it will struggle a bit and next morning its fine again regardless of weather. But since I've had it back from service it seems to struggle to start everytime turns over a few times and needs a tap of accelerator to finally kick on.

Evening Everyone, Sorry in advance for long post Have a 2011 Fabia 1.4D (which I believe is a Mark II) and it has some starting issues? [SKODA FABIA II (542) 1.4 TDI DIESEL HATCHBACK 59 KW 80 HP] I've just had it in for a full service, knew it need a few bits done, Car has had odd issue when it takes a few turns/chugs to start but always starts, then some mornings it starts first time first time. Few weeks before the service the battery died, knew it was long overdue to be changed so had a new one fitted. When I got a new battery, the guy fitting it got me to start up the engine to make sure everything was fine, like before after a few turns/chugs it started (but that was kind of normal for the car) They guy fitting it said it sounds like the an issue with the starter that it was going, but car was running better after the new battery. Anyway: During the service we had: 1) New Starter fitted Made a difference but still slight issue 2) New Camshaft Sensor fitted Error showing up on the Cam Shaft Sensor - appear to have been faulty not connecting. At this stage within few weeks car has had new battery/new starter/new camshaft sensor & full service. But our mechanic still isn't happy with the starting in that it still struggles to start the odd time. So had a VW mechanic had look at it and he said its the Fuel Pump, that apparently its common and needs to replaced. Could this be the cause, whats everyone thoughts on this, anyone come across this type of problem? Thanks, Johna
