  1. if you paid £20k for the car, then intend changing the wheels & tyres 2 months later, effectively you've paid £21k + you've also only got 2 years warranty also did you trade in your old car, motorpoint normally give you below trade price for your car, as all they do is send your car straight to auction . motorpoints prices at first glance may appear cheap, but a lot of there new stuff is run out models or imports with different spec. they also have a lot of nearly new cars which are ex daily hire, driven by every tom **** and harry. if you didn't have a trade in, you could have got a better deal with a uk car with 3 year warranty etc from a broker, although you might have to wait for the car.
  2. depends how much your paying for the car you can save £6k here http://www.buyanewcaronline.co.uk/skoda/octavia/octavia-hatchback/2.0-tsi-vrs-230-5dr-dsg/
  3. taxi drivers are all loaded, so doesn't surprise me waste of a good car though
  4. how do you get a certificate of conformity or where can you see the information on it always thought you only got this with a car you had imported just bought 4 Michelin crossclimate tyres from Costco for my winter wheels v rated and xl. original alloys & tyres on the car are not extra load wonder what an insurance company would think about this in my eyes it's safer, but you never know how these people think, personally i think they look at every claim and then will try to avoid paying out if possible too late though, I aint taking the tyres back and i'm keen to give the cross climate a try.
  5. yes it's easier to replace the whole driveshaft, as you don't need to dismantle the cv joint, it's a costly way to do it though, vw complete driveshaft around the £400 mark. the cheap driveshafts you get on ebay are only £50 or so, complete rubbish, Chinese junk
  6. here's a you tube video showing you how to remove driveshaft https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_IvQqau72c once off the car, the fun and games begin, it's a dirty job, so use rubber gloves. it's easier if you have a vice to hold the driveshaft in, while you remove the joint & clip etc also make sure you use a vw/ skoda boot not a cheapy pattern boot. easy enough job though, as long as you don't mind getting your hands dirty
  7. these tyres are only 7mm thread from new, some would say that's like being short changed i'm gonna give them a try on a spare set of steel wheels though
  8. check out the link above, they performed equally to Michelin's summer tyre [ energy saver ] on dry roads and the same on wet against the alpin winter tyre
  9. just realised you've got an elegance so on 17 inch wheels. quite a difference in price between the 16 & 17 inch tyres I suppose even at £100 x 4 = £400 , then wait for £60 off and get them for £340, so not to bad. it'll probably only be a matter of time before they do them in 18's and bigger.
  10. yea, i was in Costco at the weekend and was pricing them up, I've a spare set of 16 inch steelies in the garage without tyres and was gonna give them a try. 205/55 x 16 - £68 every know and then, they do £60 off if you buy 4, so gonna wait hopefully get 4 fitted & balanced for just over £200  not sure how much the 17 inch tyres where, maybe not much more, but you'd obviously have to downsize and buy new wheels to fit the vrs
  11. anyone using the new Michelin crossclimate tyres, no need for 2 sets of tyres for summer & winter, reviews seem to be good http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/miscellaneous/2015-02/michelin-crossclimate-tyres/
  12. there's a new kid on the block http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/Michelin-CrossClimate-launched-is-this-a-game-changer.htm i'm gonna give them a try on my winter steel wheels
  13. I wouldn't buy a dsg just for the paddles, yes they work fine, but you'll probably rarely use them, if at all. it's just a lot easier to leave it in D, or S if you prefer to hang onto a gear a bit longer, as the gearbox is so good. personally I wouldn't go back to a manual box. if you decide to go for a dsg, you'll find there's not a lot of good low milers out there, and dealers obviously know this, so demand top dollar
  14. Before you bought your new audi, did you take the aptitude test that all good audi dealerships give to potential customers ? not all dealerships provide it though  Do You Have What It Takes To Drive an audi ? AN AUDI is a special kind of car, and it takes a special type of person to drive one. We have therefore devised an aptitude test to identify those of the required calibre. Answer these simple questions to find out if you've got what it takes to drive a common German repmobile with questionable styling: 1. Your AUDI is equipped with four orange flashing lights, one at each corner. What should you use them for? A: To indicate my intention to turn at an approaching junction B: Nothing: they are entirely decorative, and have no practical purpose C: To enable me to park wherever and whenever I choose, regardless of disruption to other users of the footpath. 2. When might you use a hand-held mobile phone whilst driving your AUDI? A: Never, as it is inconsiderate to other road users. B: Strictly in emergency situations only C: All of the time: I need to keep calling people up to remind them how great I am. 3. You are doing 100 miles an hour in the outside lane of the motorway, when you come up behind another car. What do you do? A: Slow down to a safer speed, and pull into the lane to my left B: Ease off just a little to keep a safe distance between the other car and mine C: Drive right up to the car's bumper and keep flashing my lights until the idiot gets out of my way. 4. Which of these best describes the kind of work that you do? A: Caring for other people B: Making something of practical use C: Selling houses or drugs at a big profit 5. Your latest sales bonus / drug deal leaves you with an extra couple of thousand pounds to spend on your new AUDI. What features might you add to its specification? A: A full leather interior for comfort and durability B: Satellite navigation to help me get to important meetings on time C: A set of enormous alloy wheels that make the car look like a giant Tonka toy. 6. You drive your grandmother to the supermarket to do your shopping for you. Where do you park your AUDI? A: In a standard parking space, with all the ordinary cars B: Parking spaces? I've got those orange lights, remember! C: Supermarket? The old bat can take the bus and like it. 7. Because of a poorly-designed bend in the road, your AUDI mounts a kerb, causing you to run into a group of schoolchildren, and almost drop your mobile phone. Your first words after the accident are most likely to be: A: "I am so sorry, it's all my fault!" B: "Stay calm everyone, I'll call an ambulance." C: "I'll have to call you back, mate, some stupid kids have … Oh, my God! Look at the state of my car; I paid more than 25 grand for this, you know!" 8. Somebody says that you have such an ego that you think any criticism of you or your AUDI can only be motivated by envy. What do you do? A: Give consideration to what they say; maybe they have a point B: Have a reasoned discussion to try and change their point of view C: Ignore them: they are obviously jealous. Scoring For each question that you answered ‘A' give yourself 0 points For each question that you answered ‘B' give yourself 0 points For each question that you answered ‘C' give yourself 10 points Your Total 0 to 30 points: Get back to your skoda octavia 40 to 50 points: Keep dreaming, or change jobs to something that involves no morals or scruples, then try again - one day you may get there and experience the full joy of AUDI ownership! 60 to 70 points: Welcome to the world of AUDI! You need never let anyone out of a junction ever again. 80 points: You take smugness to a new level, and you have no mates. Well done! You qualify to drive that most AUDI of all AUDIs, the R8. More than 80 points: Not only are you smug and friendless, but you tell fibs too. Brilliant! You have landed yourself a plum job on our sales team, where you can talk about yourself to other AUDI drivers all day every day. Congratulations, it's no less than you deserve!
  15. bigger cars are usually more comfy, than smaller cars a year or so ago the rapid was way over priced, and at the same time skoda where discounting the superb it was possible to go into a showroom and see the rapid and superb sitting side by side with the same price tag on the windscreen. which one would you buy, if they where both the same price ? and they wonder why the rapid wasn't selling
  16. on the Passat, if you take your foot off the brake as soon as you stop, the stop / start will never come on  i'd still like to disable it permanently with vagcom though, it can be done on the Octavia but not the Passat
  17. better still, switch it off permanently with vagcom stop / start supposed to be fuel saving and good for the environment but the biggest fuel users and air polluter's are airplanes, no stop / start on them
  18. must have cost you a few bob selling a new car so soon after buying it. hope you've taken the audi for a good test drive don't wanna make the same mistake again
  19. great stuff that coloured polish covers a multitude of sins, until it rains or you decide to wash it wont be your problem though
  20. how long are you planning on keeping the car if your planning on keeping it for a long time, it'll matter not a jot if your car was gonna be delivered in December though, it's best to wait till the 1st January, as that makes more off a difference to the re-sale price but again the longer you keep it, the less the difference.
  21. sometimes the cause of an accident is not all cut and dryed. i'd hate to have my dashcam seized, then be wrongly accused of contributing to the accident could end up being very costly, not to mention the hasil involved why take the chance
  22. can you get password protected sd cards ? be good if you could, I've forgotten my password officer
  23. http://www.amazon.co.uk/PetGear-Happy-Pet-Front-Cover/dp/B00422L560/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1437771872&sr=8-9&keywords=seat+covers+pets I use the above seat covers, I don't think you'll find much better, bigger than other seat covers and made from a heavy material. check out the reviews, most people don't have a bad word to say about them. they do one for the rear seat as well, but I only have the 2 fronts. don't buy from amazon though, there cheaper at petsathome, fronts only £14 each
  24. even better, when the wifes sitting in the passenger seat nattering away, yea canny hear a word she's saying
