  1. Yes maybe some minor mark the tech said on the rear beam but he said shouldnt be an issue. Yes bit slack of them not to balance and road test in the first instance. Just rushed. shortage of techs and mechanics in Australia. Lots of apprentices at dealers particuarly.
  2. Thanks guys. I took it back today. They balanced it -it was way out on all but especially 2 wheels. Why they didnt balance it after fitting steering rack 4 new rims and doing a wheel alignment is an error on their part and not road testing it a second error, Anyway the tech today rejigged the wheel alignment balanced it road tested it and told me about the rear axle and toe so that reflects your comments AGFALCO. I feel comfortable talking direct to the tech. The manager said theres no charge today...just as well. so tomorrow its a 156km motorwatyreturn trip to work see how it feels. I got it up to 100km/hr today and it definitely felt better but it was too short -the motorway trip will tell the story.
  3. Last Thursday I had a new steering rack and 4 new rims fitted to my 2020 Fabia wagon after hitting 3/4 of a truck retread tyre 3 months ago. Had to wait for parts from Europe to Australia. They also did a wheel alignment. I drive a 156km round trip on motorways to work and back. I noticed a vibration though the floor at above 90 km-hr just like wheel balance-first trip after the dealer work carried out and todays trip. On return to home I went though their invoice No mention of a wheel balance! And also noted rear toe right initial 4.6 min 1.1 max 3.2 final 3.6 left rear toe initial 0.2 min 1.1 max 3.2 final 0.4 I e mailed over the weekend my concerns re balance and toe. No response Monday am so rang at 11am Usual guy was away. Booked to go back this Thursday. Obviously if no wheel balance was done this would contribute to vibration. my question to Bris koda forumers is What factor does the incorrect final rear toe settings contribute to vibration? I need to get my ducks in a row to deal with ususal dealer bull shirt. Thanks in advance.
  4. That’s pretty much my thinking Yes the Skoda dealer service adviser I will get someone independent to check before next service which will be 12 months from now Do the brake lights come on when the brakes on Active cruise control come on? Does the braking during Active Cruise decrease brake life make more than say a conservative driver using moderate brake pressure?
  5. The dealer just completed the 30000km service and advised front brakes 10mm left rear brakes 4mm left -need to be replaced next service I have had Ford Focus prior and got 150000kms before fixing brakes. Most of my driving is on active cruise control on motorways. Do Skoda brakes only last 45000km? Or is the dealer bull****ting?
  6. My 2020 Fabia in Queensland Australia does it. Fortunately it doesnt rain as much as say UK but the noise is annoying
  7. Finally got it into the Skoda dealer. Diagnosis Buckled rims Damage to steering rack As its deemed a collision insurance will cover. Now a wait game to see if parts are in Australia or Europe. Car is deemed safe to drive in meantime all be it with annoying steering.
  8. Thanks Ken. I ll consider your comments and add into my decisions going forward.
  9. Yes it’s a January 2020 build Fabia base model 5 speed manual 70 kw engine. As I said I had a mechanical repair tyre place check the mechanicals pronounced okay. So I suspect the tyre fragments have damaged electronic sensors. I am trying to get a sense of what sort of cost I could be up for. i have spoken to my insurer and may lodge a claim but have a $a 750 excess.
  10. I am in Queensland Australia. A week ago I ran over 60 percent of a truck retread tyre at 100km / hr with the right front wheel of my Fabia. it was at night following another vehicle. The tyre sidewall was flat on the ground with the tread sticking up. i m assuming the tread got shattered and bits flew up under the car. At home I could see no damage to the plastic protection. i took it to a tyre shop who also do mechanical repairs and they said alignment was ok mechanical components ok and did a balance. But at motorway speeds over 80km hr every few seconds the steering wheel tugs to the right and steering goes heavy. i went and saw an independent mechanic today and he suggested maybe damage to a steering sensor.Suggested taking it to Skoda dealer. Went and saw Skoda dealer. Earliest they can look at it is July 12. The independent mechanic said safe to drive providing hands on steering wheel which is given. For work I drive Vw delivery vans which are on high mileage at 200000 plus and have been whacked over kerbs mercilessly and never get alignment it balance or tlc in the front end.In fact these vans are far far worse than my Fabia. So I am well used to playing mister correct the steering attendant. i am driving the Fabia 550 km a week mostly motorway work. Any comments ie agree likely to be a damaged steering sensor. Oh yes it feels like lane keep assist but my Fabia has not got LKA thank goodness just another thing to be damaged by a collision with a retread truck tyre case. Sad I buy Euro cars cause they are more refined than Asian cars but for a month I have to put up with unrefined steering.
  11. Click in my 2020 Fabia too.
  12. Can someone confirm the cabin filter for Fabia MY2020 for 70tsi and 81tsi are the same size?
  13. Ha ha. Actually we do get almost monsoonal rains here during summer. The concrete motorway between Brisbane and Gold Coast just becomes a haze. You cant see the lines or bugger all. But hey I know about rain. I ,m a kiwi from the rain capital of the world -Auckland New Zealand.
  14. Thanks for your help. I hadnt noticed the fuel flap tyre pressure details. The tyres had been set at 37r and 33 f by the dealer. I have reset them at 32(r) and 31(f) and its riding better. Thanks again.
  15. Hi I bought a (2020) 70 kw 1.0 Fabia wagon here in Queensland Australia. Our tyre pressures here are set in psi. The dealer told me run 30psi front and 31 psi front. I checked the pressures at a service station this morning and changed it from 37psi (rear) to 31psi and 33psi (front) to 30 psi. My work commute includes 30 kms on a concrete motorway which has been gutted by heavy trucks so trying to reduce vibration at 110km/hr. What tyre pressures do folks find works best on these Fabia,s. I would rather have ride comfort not too concerned about tyre life.
