My Mk 1 Skoda Octavia vRS has acquired a variety of clunks and clicks on minor road bumps, usually only noticeable at slower speeds. My local garage has told me that none of the joints on the suspension and steering have any play. What else might be the cause?

I have a 2005 Octavia vRS, which I bought second hand in 2010. Yes I've had it nearly 15 years! Then it had 18,000 miles on the clock, now more than 172,000 - same engine, but reconditioned gearbox. We love it to bits. It's quick enough for us and corners and stops like a sports car. And it has an amazing boot capacity. It would be hard to find an adequate replacement - except maybe a newer vRS.

Hi, I have a 2004/5 Octavia vRS. It has recently started making a rasping noise on right hand bends and on bounces over bumpy roads. The noise is harsh on fast bends under full-ish throttle, soft noise under normal cornering and completely absent when cornering on trailing throttle. Local garage has checked and confirms noise but unable to identify cause. Any thoughts?
