  1. A private sale. Had I bought it from a garage or main dealer, this problem would never have arisen. An expensive and hard lesson to learn..
  2. I will indeed do that in the hope that the results of what is found may help others who could find themselves in the same situation.
  3. Yes Dave, so Monday afternoon should disclose everything because its booked into skoda for a diagnostic. 🤞Cf
  4. Thanks. I had it booked in for an engine flush this afternoon (Decalaminage) but they were apparently unable to do it because of the car having an electric fan. However, the company did report back to me on what the fault reading actually was - P2425: 'Vanne de defroidissement, recyclage des gaz d'echappement: Court circuit au pole positif'. ( EGR, recycling of exhaust gas: short circuit on the positive side.) So it's very strange that i didn't receive a warning light and also, the readings for the controle were well within the limits, an average of 0.10. I admit to being really baffled about this. surely if there EGR was faulty, then the exhaust readings would be high? I know when my EGR went on the laguna, we were almost being suffocated with fumes inside the car! The receptionist / mechanic at the main Skoda dealer this afternoon asked if i'd seen the warning light. I explained, no, no light at all at any time... He shrugged, (no doubt thinking typical female!), and asked if my car was there and could he please have the keys. I gave them to him and he disappeared for 10 minutes, coming back shrugging his shoulders and muttering 'c'est bizarre!' he had no idea why no light appeared either. it is now booked in for a computer test on 14/12/20. I have until 16/01/21 to get it sorted before I am off the road.. :( I appreciate any comments or suggestions on this problem, however obvious they may seem to you because it doesn't make sense to me! As you said, all, I can think of is that someone has blanked off that light.
  5. Gussin, Thank you so much for the quick response, although it is not exactly the answer that i'd hoped for as my car has just failed the test due to no EML light illuminating on ignition (fault 8.2.22.c.2) Looks like a trip to the main dealers is on the cards this week then. Despite hours spent on the net, I canot find out if there was any way of disabling this so maybe I could 're'enable' it. Plenty of info on disabling it temporarily if it is glowing. Fingers tightly crossed it isn't a main ECU problem...
  6. I wonder if anyone could please tell me if my car is fitted with an EML warning light as I understand that not all vehicles are - some using the 'heater glow plug warning light' for this purpose. My engine type is CAYB (EA189). Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Well, my less than honest seller did omit to tell me that the car was a repaired write off, and also the second key and handbook never materialised so watch this space... :(
  8. Hello everyone, I am a new owner of a 2012 Skoda Fabia Combi 1.6tdi with 43,000 on the clock. I have just taken it for the first test since I bought it earlier this year. It failed! After replacing all the tyres (5), I am now left with one item to resolve before 16th January and wonder if anyone can please advise? The failure was section 8.2.22.c.2. "The reading of the OBD indicates an important dysfunction". The readings for the emissions were fine on the test report. The tester informed me that this problem is that, on start up, the 'engine' symbol (which I believe is the 'EML' or 'Exhaust inspection System' light) should flick on briefly when the ignition is turned. This doesn't happen. If the vehicle system does a check before starting then it misses this one. The car is running well and apart from the brief appearance of the emissions warning light a few weeks ago, has had no problems. I did buy a bottle of fuel additive and added that to the diesel and the engine seems a little smoother. Does anyone please have any experience with this? On Tuesday the car is booked in for an 'engine flush' which I understand cleans out the systems, and attempts to recoup the EGR / PAP. I wonder if it is possibly the lambda sensor or one of the oxygen sensors? My husband bought himself a cheapie chinese OBD reader and that doesn't seem to show anything. The local garage tried and he got an error code of P242500 which seems to relate to emissions but nothing else, but the emissions passed the test with an average reading of 0.10.. I am confused! i'd be grateful for any advice anyone can offer. Thank you
  9. My 2012 Fabia 1.6S has just failed it's test because the EML light does NOT come on with the ignition! :(
