  1. I think on engine choice, I'm falling down on the side of the 220 rather than the 280. This is still going to a family wagon, ferrying the wife and kids around town and being used for family getaways. The 2.0 220 seems to provide a decent blend of performance and fuel economy, whereas the 280 although fun would be a bit of budget buster when it comes to long-term ownership. I would have considered the 1.5 150PS, but from this thread been illuminated by the wet clutch/dry clutch differences and so another reason to go with the 2.0 220. The far tricker question i'm still to settle on is Sportline vs. L&K. Pretty much changing my mind on this on a daily basis!
  2. No DCC either, but have heard mixed reviews over ether this is nice to have vs essential. It’ll be transporting the family, so just need to make sure the ride is comfortable and not too harsh. I’m assuming the drive select mode (eco, normal, sport) will be just fine for most needs?
  3. Good shout, I’ll check with the dealer. It’s lacking any additional options which is slightly off putting, including front parking sensors, However, I think I can cope without them. I think the standard spec is still pretty decent overall.
  4. Thanks for the replies everyone, definitely gives me some food for thought. I prefer the sporty look of the Sportline, but think I’d miss some of the nice touches that come with the L&K (front as well as rear sensors, auto boot opening, heated seats, park and lane assist) but of course that comes with a price tag. One to mull over. I was looking at the model below but only standard spec, so tempted to wait to see if a Sportline with some added options comes onto the market that might persuade me to buy... https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202009173858034?postcode=n134as&transmission=Automatic&price-from=18000&make=SKODA&include-delivery-option=on&radius=1501&price-to=22500&aggregatedTrim=SportLine&fuel-type=Petrol&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&year-from=2017&body-type=Estate&sort=relevance&advertising-location=at_cars&model=SUPERB&page=1
  5. VW Golf Match. Only thing I would like is the rear reversing camera which I currently have, but heard the front and rear sensors are good. Perhaps just a case of getting used to it without the camera.
  6. I’m looking at a buying a used superb Sportline estate. Obviously not getting much choice on how I spec the car, but what are the thoughts on the standard spec for the car? Are there any absolute “must haves” for the car I should be looking out for in terms of options that would prevent me going for standard spec only? Or is standard spec more than good enough? This will be used for around town driving and motor way cruising with the family. I know now there any more toys with the L&K but do prefer the look for the Sportline for the estate, personal preference only.
  7. I'm looking to buy a used Skoda Superb estate (Sportline or L&K hopefully), and all the models I'm currently finding have the 2.0 TSI 220PS engine. Does anyone have the Superb estate with this engine, and any experiences both good or bad? I hear the 1.5 TSI 150PS is the one most of the critics recommend, and better for fuel economy. However, as these seem to be pretty rare to find in estate version used I may need to go with the 2.0 TSI 220PS which is a bit more common. Be good to get real world experiences. Do I go for the 2.0, or hold fire and wait it out till a 1.5 becomes available? I'm a low mileage driver, so needs to be petrol and auto vs manual.
  8. Great to hear from someone in the exact same position. If you don’t mind, be good to find out about the thinking. What made you decide on the hatch versus the estate? Both look good, so looking for something to sway me one way or the other. Did you consider any other cars before deciding on the superb hatch? The wife will be driving it from time to time as well - how is your other half finding it so far? It’ll be used for town driving as well as motorway cruising, so ease to live with on a daily basis important. Any other things I should be looking out for when buying used from your experience?
  9. I am considering buying a used Skoda Superb estate, but need some advice over engine choice. I’m a relatively low mileage driver (10-12k per yr) and soon to be affected by the ULEZ extension. So, I’m more inclined to go petrol. However, this is a family car used for town driving and holidays with the kids, so needs to be economical. I like the Sportline trim for looks, but don’t want the 280ps as I don’t need that kind of power or fuel bills! So far, I am only managing to find this model and trim with the 2.0 litre 220ps engine. 1) Is this the 2.0 220ps the other engine choice on offer in this trim? Any experience of its fuel economy for those that have this engine? 2) Is this available in the 1.5 150ps engine? I have heard this is a good choice for the estate, but nothing coming up in Sportline trim? 3) Do do all the engines comes with the ACT technology?
  10. I’m close to being convinced that a Skoda Superb is the right choice to replace our current Golf TDI which will soon fall foul of the ULEZ. However, need some advice on estate vs hatchback and also what engine choice and trim. I’d prefer to buy used, and budget is max £20K. This needs to be petrol and automatic. Mileage is around 10-12K per year, and will be used for town driving, weekend getaways and holidays with the family (3yr and 5yr old). Questions are; 1) Any preferences on estate vs hatchback? Pros and cons? 2) I really like the Sportline and L&K trim to give it the sporty look. Pros/cons over SEL trim? 3) What TSI engine? Estate in 1.5 TSI hard to find, but what is 2.0 TSI like? Gas guzzler? Or better option?
