Electric Window Switches
Thanks for the comments. It's started working again so whatever had got in the switch seems to have sorted itself out. Ho hum.

Electric Window Switches
Hello. I've been lurking for a while quietly enjoying my 2017 L&K 220 but now have an issue. I decided to get a full valet done as the light beige interior is starting to look a bit grubby. I used a local mobile valeting service that did a fantastic job, but.... The day after, driving along and the passenger window suddenly lowered itself and wouldn't go back up. All the others worked and after a few minutes the passenger window would go up. Now the driver's window won't do anything at all. I'm wondering if anything the valeter used could have got into the switch pack. I've given it a couple of days to dry out but still nothing. I haven't contacted the valet company yet and am wondering if it's worth it given it doesn't seem an expensive part to simply replace as I suspect 'proving' the valeter was at fault will be almost impossible. Anyone have any views?

Starting Problem: battery?
Yes it was the battery. It was only holding 10 volts.

Starting Problem: battery?
Hi everyone. I have a 2017 L&K 220 with 54k on the clock. This morning it wouldn't start or even turn over. It didn't release the steering lock and the brake pedal was solid. I got error messages saying the Collision Alert System and Cornering Lights were faulty, then one that said the 12v battery was low and to drive the car to charge it (thanks for thatπ). After a few minutes of me looking stupidly at it, and trying again several times, including locking and unlocking the car, it started. All the error messages disappeared. I drive to my appointment and afterwards it started, albeit a bit hesitantly. Any thoughts? Could the battery be on the way out? Thanks!

Oil service?
They missed pollen filter and spark plugs.... not sure how! The local dealer here did the work and charged it back to Skoda. I've just looked at the invoice for the last service and it says 'long life oil'

Oil service?
Thanks everyone. I bought it in March 2021 as an Approved Used car from Skoda, allegedly serviced prior to delivery. The one earlier this year was the first time I had it done and from memory the car was asking for one. I suppose they could have changed it. Although the local dealer here found and corrected a few things that the supplying dealer had missed off the previous service..... π

Oil service?
OK, I've looked again at the info screen. It is asking for an oil change in just over 1000 miles or 150 days and inspection in 10000 miles or over 500 days. It must be set to oil change at 9000/12 months and inspection at 18000/24 months?

Oil service?
I do about 10-12k miles p/a. I've looked at the invoice for the last service and it did include an oil change. I assume I will need to ask the dealer for the PR codes? Apologies for the probably daft questions but I have never owned such a complicated car before!

Oil service?
Thanks. I'm running it on compliant petrol so I think then it should need a service every 12 months or 18k miles with nothing in between. I looked at the car's computer and it says it needs an Inspection in just over 10k miles, which fits, so I am confused why it wants an oil change now. You may be right about what was reset and what was not. I'll check with the dealer. Thing is that I have one service left on my service plan and I don't want the dealer to claim a simple oil change uses the remaining credit!

Oil service?
Hi. I suspect this might have been asked before! I have a 2017 L&K 220 petrol; it's on 45k miles and is asking for an oil service. It was last serviced at 37.5k 6 months ago. I thought these have 12 month, 12k service intervals? Thanks.

Saab to Superb
I decided to rein my ambitions in a bit and bought the 220 and am very happy with it, although I'm still wading through the various functions and settings. And I'm getting 34 mpg on local running around of a type that my Saab would get 22/23.

Yep. Starting to get used to it. I don't think I have ever driven anything so luxurious. I'm happy I got the 220, I don't think the extra running costs would have justified the 280.

Well, after much lockdown inspired faffing, I took delivery yesterday of a 220 L&K hatch, and it's luvverley. Very impressed with it and in Sport mode it delivers the Saab surge. I'm very happy.

Sorry to hear it. That engine was notorious.

Thanks for the comments back. Sorry to have not replied sooner but we have had a family emergency. Anyway, some interesting thoughts here. I might have a look at a hi spec Octavia - I've had the hatch as a hire car before and was impressed with the front seats, but not the back. The estate might be a different matter though. Because of hire cars I'm also used to stop/start systems, but agree the first time I 'experienced' one it was a shock! Now restrictions have eased a bit, I'll go and test drive a 280 and see if I think it's worth the extra expense. Will also check out the Octavia as well. I got a good price for my Saab from a specialist so do need a car.

Thanks. I know what you mean about tuning. I had a 95 Aero with Abbot upgrades. That was fun! I know a 220 will be more than enough for my needs, but my first Saab was a 9000CSE FPT. Great car but I always had a twinge whenever I saw an Aero. And I can help thinking about that turbo surge. Agree about the repairs on the Saab though!

Saab to Superb
Hi everyone. I'm a long term Saab owner (four over 20 years) looking to move on. I currently have a 2010 9-5 2.3t, but 23mpg and 550 quid VED on a 10 year old car is getting too much. I like the Superb and have driven a 190 diesel and a 220 petrol. I'm afraid I don't like diesels but I felt the 220 petrol lacked 'ooomph'. If you accelerate down a slip road in a FPT Saab, you ride the surge of power; the 220 lacked that sense of occasion, even though on paper it's quicker. I'm looking for a 2-3 year old L&K and my budget means I can get a 220 estate or a 280 hatch. This will be a long term purchase so needs to be right: comfortable, quick, reliable, fun and decent running costs. I guess a 220 is less complex and cheaper to run than a 280, but will it give the sense of occasion that I get from my Saab. Has anyone else here had the same dilemma? Thanks in advance.
