  1. Hopefully not bad news for you, but the glow plug warning light is something of a pas partout which can include the EGR valve. Just had one replaced a few weeks ago due in all probability to too many short journeys. A 66 plate 2.0 diesel 4x4 has to have the front subframe dropped to get to the damn thing, All in all 8 hours job with subsequent 4 figure bill.
  2. I can tell what year of car/cars you drive Graham without your posting. I have however got a proper circuit diagram now, and no, no dedicated fuse. As Bexhillian remarked, the DRLs can be deactivated using the MFD though. The how and why escape me but I can live with that.
  3. The "bulb" is an LED embedded in it's own circuitry and cooling system attached to the outside of the headlight unit. The wiring could be problematic as there is barely enough to attach the LED unless you have the fingers of a five year old. Hmmm ! Where's the nearest five year old.
  4. Exactly what I am dreading. If it's inside the light unit it's going to be fun. That's why I was looking for any other contact points in the feed.
  5. Just imagine it's a pregnant female. Really nothing to joke about as they can cause massive damage to electrics. My local garage has been trying to evict / kill an infestation in a customer's car which is now, at three years old virtually finished due to mouse activity. A little pack of Warfarin or an overdraft; choice is yours.
  6. Thanks for replies on this. I'm getting an intermittent failure on the nearside DRL with all other lights OK. Just wondered if it was on a separate circuit with it's own fuse. Looks as if its the DRL unit itself so I've ordered up a replacement of Ebay. Skoda OEM about £85 but aftermarket same unit for BMWs for £30 so not a bank breaker.
  7. Fuse that serves DRLs on the BiZenon setup please.
  8. Something out on the end of the driveshafts possibly ? Is it noticeable when lifting off or accelerating on bends and is there anything audible ? Anything transmitted through the steering wheel ? Thinking of worn hubs/ CV joints which I experienced on my Octavia. I got a noticeable but strangely silent jerk from a worn hub.
  9. A reasonable assumption, but as with a lot of parts, particularly towards end of life series, developing the cheaper option could cost more. Having said that, as I mentioned previously, the Octavia used the same filter with a much more minimalist system, which would have made your point nicely.
  10. Whatever tomfoolery I get up to in a car, driving into water more than axle deep isn't one of them and I don't think there is a snorkel on the market for the Yeti. I just wondered why my Yeti has a plenum on the intake which would hold a small child.
  11. I don't think there will be any difference across the engine range in parts like the air intake. Just surprised at the convolute antics prior to the filter. My old Octavia 4x4 in 1.9 guise used exactly the same filter but with a more direct airflow. Neither system seemed to have any drainage facility for swallowed water though.
  12. I'm thinking about improving the intake airflow on my Monte Carlo. Apart from separating out water in mud plugging activities, has anyone a clue as to why the 2.0 Diesels have an enormous plenum style air intake when a straight through set up would be possible.
