Hi daz, thanks for that. I haven't tried the new module yet but will do fairly soon. The thinking on the wi-fi facility was that any occasional passengers might be able to use it without their device being paired to the BT module. Could be totally incorrect of course! I'm erring on the side of thinking that it's an internal module fault as this morning when I went out it just came up with "Initialising Chris's iPhone" and wouldn't do anything else, not even able to cancel that. Not a silly suggestion at all. I haven't got the necessary hardware to clear the fault code so I'll have to go see my friendly garage man, get him to do it and then see what happens from there. Hi y'all. At the risk of going over old ground with this topic... Some months ago the bluetooth connection went tits up and point blank refused to connect to my then current iPhone 5s although up to that point it had been working ok. It seemed to "see" the phone and got as far as asking for the 16 digit code to pair, but then would either hang or else display the error message "Compatible phone not found". At other times it just wouldn't acknowledge the phone at all. I've since upgraded the phone to an iPhone 8 Plus and get exactly the same symptoms. Pretty sure it's not the phone as it connects quite happily to my daughter's 20 reg Kodiak, also a 20 reg Mini. The original BT unit is a 5N0 035 730D but I've managed to find a much more recent 3C8 035 730E unit for a pretty decent price, so I intend fitting that in place of the older one. A full diagnostic scan carried out recently when I had coil pack problems ( 2 went faulty within two weeks of each other following a plug change at the service in Feb '21) indicated the GSM aerial was open circuit so I replaced the built in one with an after-market one just plugged into the port on the BT unit. Didn't make any difference though on a re-scan, still threw up "Address 77... GSM aerial open circuit". To cut a long story short I'm assuming the replacement BT unit will need recoding, so if anyone could come up with the appropriate codes please or point me in the direction where I might find them I'd be very grateful. As previously said, the new BT unit is a 3C8 035 730E, the head unit a factory fitted Bolero and the mobile an iPhone 8 Plus. Hi y'all. Just a quick introduction as this is my first post on here. I'm Chris aka bicycle_repair_bloke, living in Wistaston Green, Crewe, Cheshire. Been retired since the end of 2012 but seem to be busier than ever... well, like everyone else this year, I was, until this nasty bug appeared. Spent most of my working life as a technician employed by various bodies such as the British Army (Royal Signals), BT, Colston and Ariston (and on and on!) Domestic Appliances, a firm installing and maintaining fire alarms, radio and room-call systems in hotels and guest houses, back to BT again and also back to the Green Machine as a civvy technician. Last paid employment was fixing (or attempting to) Lexmark printers for the likes of Tesco and RBS group. You could say I'm fairly handy but I do appreciate my limitations and will happily seek advice when needed. Good reason to join this forum! Currently driving a 2011 vintage Octavia II 1.8 TSI bought at about 12 months old from Mitchells Skoda near Cheshire Oaks. This is my third Octavia and I'm very pleased with the model. I tow a Bailey Ranger GT60 touring caravan with it (somewhat infrequently these days) and the car handles the 'van well although it's a touch on the heavy side. Current interests are U3a... I play in and lead two table tennis groups and am a member of a team quiz group. I also take part in local charity quizzes with other quizzers from the U3a. I regularly attend a local Anglican church where I am an assistant Churchwarden and choir member.
