DS1 card problems
The key point was to unzip it directly to the SD card, I was trying to copy the Maps folder directly from the unzipped file which doesn't work. I've checked all the previous comments and suggestions and I can't see any that say unzip the download skoda portal zip file directly to the SD1 card. But at least the advice given was sound maybe it wasn't clear enough. But thanks anyway, it did help.

DS1 card problems
I finally managed to update my Skoda Octavia mark 3 Sat Nav SD1 from the 2017 data to the 2020/21 data, it's taken 3 days to achieve this, so for anyone having the same problem this is how I did it:- Take the SD1 card from your Skjoda Octavia to a Windows PC and copy the Maps folder from the SD1 to some where on your Windows PC for safety, (in case something goes wrong) then delete the Maps folder on the SD1 card. Using a Zip file manager (I use winRAR) unzip the file that was downloaded from the Skoda Portal), directly to the SD1 card (Maps folder + .TXT file) it takes a while so be patient. Once finished insert the SD1 card back into the Skoda Octavia mark 3 and that's it, done! Thanks to everyone that gave me advice, although some of the advice was confusing, it got me there in the end.

Amundsen, Colmbus or Belero
Thanks, that's a great help I was a bit confused with the Skoda compatability list as it doesn't show the S10 or higher.

Amundsen, Colmbus or Belero
My phone is a really old Nokia and it will not connect, so I'm looking for a newer cheap phone that works, Skoda's compatability list shows quite a lot but I just wondered if any one who also drives a Skoda Octavia 2018 has a recommendation, I've heard that Android Auto is better than Apple Play.

Amundsen, Colmbus or Belero
It looks as though I've sorted the map data problem thanks to you guys. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive android mobile phone (possibly pay as you go) that will connect seamlessly to my Skoda Octavia 2018, my old phone will not connect. I use my mobile phone mainly for break down emergencies i.e AA, RAC or Greenflag so I don't use it a lot, but I would like to be able to phone or recieve calls from my family from the car. I probably may want to use the phones Sat nav as sometimes these can be better than the in car sat nav, music via blutooth possibly but very little else.

Amundsen, Colmbus or Belero
Thanks, according to your images I have the Amundsen 8", I'll try to get the Skoda Portal update and try to update my current SD card.

Amundsen, Colmbus or Belero
O.K so how do you discover whether your system is Amundsen or Columbus?

Amundsen, Colmbus or Belero
I recently purchased a used 2018 Skoda Octavia M.3 1.5L TSI SE Hatchback. How do you know which system your Skoda Octavia operates i.e Amundsen, Colmbus, Belero or other, the previous owner may have changed the Amundsen system to Columbus or something else can't find anything on the Infotainment menus.

DS1 card problems
I am a retired IT consultant, I understand computers and Zip files, and yes I unzipped the main folder to extract the maps folder and copied the maps folder to the Skoda SD1 card replacing the the old maps folder. I think I will forget about it for the time being and if I need a Satnav I will use my trusted TomTom.

DS1 card problems
Tried all that with the original Skoda 2017 SD card copied the maps folder to my pc and copied the downloaded maps folder 2020/2021 from Skoda portal, to the Skoda 2017 SD card took the card to my Octavia and it says can't find data etc so it seems that the problem is with the Skoda portal download faulty data, maybe?

DS1 card problems
I tried to update the existing SD1 NAV card via the Skoda Portal update copied to a spare SD card and a USB stick all formated to FAT32 as instructed in the manual. Car reads the SD/USB but says No Data found, even though the Maps folder is on the SD/USB

DS1 card problems
Kenny R, yes I have just tried it and you are correct so I will just have to stay with the 2017 SD1 card or use my spare Tom Tom Sat Nav in the USB. Skoda don't make it easy!!

DS1 card problems
Thanks for the replies. I understand that Sat Nav does not work without an SD card, the card I removed is 16gb, Fat32, 32k and contains just 1 folder called Maps using 14gb of data, I know this works because it was working after I had driven out of Stonacre after they had taken it out (it was stuck) and put it back in. So I am now in the process of copying the maps folder from the SD1 card and then I am going to format a spare 32gb SD card (formated) to FAT32 that I have and I will copy the Skoda Portal Map update to this new card and try that. Thanks to Gaz it looks as though I am on MIB2. So my car uses Amundsen SAT nav? not Columbus?

DS1 card problems
Thanks for relying. Since Stoneacre released the card the Sat is working but I am unable to update using the Skoda Portal and a USB stick. Not sure whether the unit is Amundsen, Columbus or Bolero or whether it's MIB1 or MIB2 so can't purchase a new SD card until I find out.

DS1 card problems
I purchased a Skoda Octavia (2018) 1.5L TSI SE Hatchback about 2 weeks ago from Stoneacre. I was trying to update the Sat Nav on the SD1 card, I was unable to remove the card so I took the car back to Stonacre and they released it for me saying that it had a bit of metal stuck in it which they removed, had they said that they had never seen this problem before. This is an original Skoda SD card marked as 2017, I'm wanting to replace or upgrade this card for 2021 any suggestions? I have tried to copy the Skoda Portal update using the USB port in the car but all I get is update message on screen, so maybe this card can't be updated. Also does anyone know what the infotainment system is? Amundsen or Columbus or other. Thanks
