  1. Sorry for the late reply. Thank you, i'm going to order one this week. Do you only need to use the lever to mount the carrier or do you also need to use tools? The potential for not needed tools is what has drawn me to this one. I was hankering after the thule does this but its almost a grand and they hacve no 4 bike option.
  2. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm curious to see how the carrier has been over the years?
  3. How did you fix it? The video is no longer available.
  4. P.s oil and coolant levels are fine so doesn't seem to be burning anything.
  5. I'm a bit concerned about the amount of white smoke out of the exhaust on my 2018 2.0 TSI when I floor it. It's been cold since I've had it and just thought it was vapour but now it's mild I'm a bit more concerned. I'm not getting any warning lights or funny smells or noises. Is this normal for a TSI?
  6. Thanks for the comments. I'll test the recommendations.
  7. The facelift model. I've only used the radio so far. I'll try the fading the rears out. This might be what i'm hearing and not liking. I might tweak the mids as well. Thanks.
  8. The rears are not even worth having. I faded to the rear only and it's absolutely appalling. I can't fault the abmunsden unit. It's the speakers that are the problem I think.
  9. Overall i'm happy with the octavia vrs. The two niggles are both audio related. Firstly TSI really doesn't sound very nice. Secondly the stereo is really bad. Coming from a Ford there stereos always sound half decent. Do all VAGs sound this bad or do they cheap out on the budget brands? Still, its almost a £30k car, i was expecting more.
  10. Had my car less than 2 weeks and i've kerbed the alloys already! I'm gutted. Its the Grey Gemini alloys on the VRS. Does anyone know the colour code for the grey?
  11. I was expecting around 35 around town. I'll put it into normal and see if this improves at all.
  12. I've only just got my VRS TSI and its the first skoda i've owned. When you finish your journey the screen gives you a rundown of data for the Journey. A very slow journey around town in eco mode with no traffic the computer is saying i'm only getting 24-25 mpg. Is this accurate? I was expecting a lot more.
  13. Yeah, i'm impressed so far. It almost makes me feel like a grown up!!
  14. It turned out to have had the oil change as well as the dsg service. Long story short after 25 years of driving fords I've got my first Skoda.
  15. Has these issues on the 2.0 VRS TSI been resolved on later models or has the list not been updated? They all seem to be Mk II's.
  16. No its not a Skoda Approved. Its variable. I'll inspect the DSG service invoice for oil change also. I'll contact Skoda again tomorrow regarding warranty history. I'll look over the tyres , brakes and chips on the test drive Monday. Thanks again for the help.
  17. Thank you. Its over what i was comfortable spending so this has made me even more nervous. There are very little TSI VRS estates around. Rob
  18. Hello, I'm new here and this is my first post. I've put a deposit on a 2018 TSI VRS. It's high mileage for its age at 51k. I've not seen it yet but will be ready on Monday. I was asking the dealer for service history and he said it was done with Skoda 18k last year. I've contacted Skoda and they've confirmed the same. The dealer mentioned the DSG was done ay 41,000 and the print out says "DSG Oil & filter change" this must have been done at an independent as skoda has no record of it. This isn't clear if the oil and filter is referring to those in the DSG or they mean as well as them. It would be strange to not do a oil change at the same time. I'm I being overly cautious here? Is it strange not using the mains dealer servicing on such a new car? Thanks in advance.
