  1. I agree with you, but on all DIY YouTube videos they use negative terminal from donor battery and I was wondering why. I was thinking why is that so important so I want to hear what you guys think about it. As you said battery monitoring system should be aware of this energy transfer and that is also what I'm thinking. But let us hear what others have to say.
  2. Hi, I understand all the danger when jump starting cars with star stop system and general safety when performing this, but I'm wonder do I have to connect negative clamp to negative terminal on donor car battery or I can also use some ground point as it should be done on car with dead battery. I helped my friend to jump start car and we use negative terminal on my battery (of course using correct order when connecting) but I was wondering why just to use ground point on dead battery and why not on both car. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for clarification. I read that it can be used for checking fault codes and also for odometer adjustment, but I need it for checking fault codes so I will check that one that you recommended. I just know that my car is from 2014 (January 2014) and that it have PN that I posted, but if it is not so important for checking fault codes then everything is OK. But it is nice to know that that PN is from VDO. Anyway thanks for your help.
  4. Hi, I'm new member and I just introduced myself and just from the start I have one question As I say in introduction I want to learn and to be able to do some easy maintenance on my car. I have Octavia MK 3 from 2014 and I'm thinking to buy some good OBD reader. I found that good one is OBDStar x300M but I saw that they mention different instrument type cluster. I know that mine have this PN: 5E0920871D but I can't find name that is mentioned in this device page. As I see it support: For SKODA ALL OCTAVIA -2006 For SKODA ALL OCTAVIA 2007- CDC For SKODA ALL OCTAVIA 2009-2010 NEC+24C32 VDO For SKODA ALL OCTAVIA -2012 NEC+24C64 VDO For SKODA ALL OCTAVIA 2014.06- MQB For SKODA ALL OCTAVIA VDO K Line and the closest that I can see from years is MQB, but my cars is from January 2014. and here it says 2014.06. I tried to google PN:5E0920871D but still I don't know what is the name of this cluster. I hope that I'm writing on right place and that you can help me. Thanks in advance and have a nice day. Jasmin
  5. Hi to all drivers of the best car :). I'm from Finland and and a big enthusiast for Skoda cars. This one that I have is my 4 Skoda car and right know I'm proud owner of Skoda Octavia 2014 MK 3 DSG model. I have never been very happy with the Skoda service because they do regular maintenance too fast and not always according to manuals ( not looking at torque value) so I decide that something will be better if I'm done it. Here I'm not talking about things that can be done just by professionals but some regular maintenance that should be possible to do with hobby tools. So I started to search for a good forum and I found you :). That is the reason why I joined the great community.
