  1. Thank again for taking the time. I will post findings and any resolution . To help others with same issue , do I rename the post subject or tag this is some way that so people can find the thread once we know what the issue and resolution is?
  2. Cheers. I will have look when it is light in the morning. Light is out for now, and engine note and idle seem OK so will take for a short drive to see if oil light comes back on or any other issues. As the switch is mechanical, I assume that without taping it is registering something as open I thought the 'doors open' red warning light would come on if the ECU thought the bonnet was open? So not worth putting switch back where it should be?
  3. Hi Thanks for the reply . Car is a Fabia Se Tsi 85. Definitely the oil warning light - see pic. also attached closer shot of the mechanical switch. Like you say it looks like it must register something is open or closed. I have ordered a Haynes manual that should arrive tomorrow, could do with one anyway. I tried googling images of engine bay switches but could not see this part and could not see a part number on the switch. Wiring leads back to a main wiring trunking on the left hand side of bay (if viewed from the front)
  4. Hi, I hope you can help. After an MOT and service , I have come away with a yellow steady oil warning light on the dash. I had no problems before taking in and no problems in the 3 years of ownership so am a bit gutted as and poorer from the experience so far! Part of the service was an oil change and the dip stick shows correct oil fill. inside the engine bay I have found a switch that looks like it has been snapped off and cable tied back. Can you help identify and indicate where it should go? With the bonnet open and the engine running I have taken the risk to activate the switch and the oil light cleared. I then switched of the ignition and restarted and the oil light has stayed off. This may have been opening and closing the bonnet or activating the unidentified switch . As I was on my own , I cannot say if the oil light on the dash when out when activating the switch or from closing the bonnet.
