  1. I have a problem with my MK1 Skoda Octavia. The headlining has dropped down over the rear passenger area. Does anyone know how to fix this ? I assume remove the trim plastic capping situated above the parcel shelf, and glue back the lining ? I would like to know which type of glue to use, as the wrong type would soak into the lining and be seen. Any help appreciated.
  2. The rear nearside electric window operating switch is not working. Does anyone know if this switch can be removed from the panel (which I have prised out) or will a replacement switch have the panel as well ? I did think of swopping the switch with the offside one if it is removable. They are both rocker type switches on mine. Help please.
  3. Where are the sill drains ? Thanks, I will check the plastic membrane for damage when I remove the door card.
  4. Hi kentphil1 Thanks for the info and drawings. I am really hoping that I don't need to remove the steering wheel etc, just for the panel I mentioned. Maybe the lower dash with the lighting switch in it. I will explore later, but I expect there are more leaks than the one at the front. Always a damp car (windows running with condensation) Sound proofing can be squeezed like a sponge under the carpet.
  5. I'm having trouble with the panel above the pedals. Cannot remove it. This panel has the diagnostic check socket in it at the back. Help please.
  6. This message for Midgetace. Thankyou for your help, and to let you know that one serious leak on my Skoda come from behind the pedals. You have explored that area, and found the offending leak. I decided to try to remove the panel which sits above the pedals. It has the diagnostics socket in there. After removal of the torx screws, I mistakenly tried to prize it out. Panic ! The foam on the rear of this panel is sopping wet through. However, the panel would not come out, as I believe much more has to be removed first. I was going to check the wiring loom grommet as you described. Could you please advise on how to remove that bottom panel, which needs to come out to access the steering column etc. Look forward to your reply.
  7. Thanks to all who offered advice regarding the water ingress on my mk 1. It is bad now on both sides of rear footwells. I will be following up on ideas given. Does anyone know where the main wiring harness runs front to rear ? The reason i ask is because I am thinking I will have to remove carpet and underfelt in order for it to dry. Because it must be quite a job to remove, I am considering cutting carefully (say under front seats) and maybe side of footwells. Don't want to cut into harness, if it's around there. Otherwise, advice please from anyone who has removed carpet, without dismantling half the car. Thanks in advance.
  8. Thankyou for your help. I have found one water inlet, which as you suggest is behind the pedals. I have to find out how to remove the lower panel, and see if I can find the hole you suggest through I presume to the bulkhead ? I also have to find the drain pipe from the a/c. I use the a/c regularly in this cold weather, and more so now to demist the screen. All windows are running with water since the leaks. i have poured water into the scuttle near the windscreen wipers, and it does drain out, but maybe I should remove the wheel arch covers to scrape out ? It is so bad now, both sides of rear footwells, that I think I will have to remove front seats, and cut out carpet, because it will never dry at this rate. All this work, and the rain is relentless here in Wales. No chance of working in a garage. Best wishes.
  9. Help please. Due to problems with water ingress still affecting passenger side rear footwell (quite a pond) I decided to take off all door cards, and replace the membranes behind the cards, with some plastic sheeting (from Amazon) as the membranes are no longer available from Skoda parts dept. I wondered if anyone has an idea of how to secure the membranes, (which may need to be removed later) The only thing I can think of is Blue tack. Also, with all this rain lately, I noticed on the driver's side footwell, just forward of the seat there is a little pool of water about 75mm diameter totally on its own. I imagined this to come from the sunroof, but the covering slider above is dry. Any suggestions please ?
  10. I have serious rain water ingress, which gathers quite a pool in footwell of rear passenger side. I have read the various suggestions and checked front sunroof drain channels, which exit near to front door hinges. Not sure whether there are rear sunroof drains. Have checked scuttle, poured water in and it flows out near to front mud flaps. I noticed water near to radius area of rear seat, (passenger side not drivers side) Car is constantly damp and windows running with condensation. Took to garage and he put new plastic seal behind door card (N/S rear) He was convinced that was it. This is quite a pond that gathers. I am desperate to find the source. Also spare wheel area wet as well. Can anyone tell me what "exits" from the rear wheel arches behind the mud flaps (could that be a source?) Please help.
