  1. Probably not, but thanks. More after advice as to whether I should bother actually. I'm just going to wait until I collect my new Citroen on Sunday (just in case my tyres will fit) and then I'll give it a go listing it on a local Facebook page. If there's no interest it'll be straight to the scrapyard.
  2. Oh, right... I'll have a look in the morning (if it's not raining!) My brother said the scrapyard should be able to take off the wheels is there anything else I should remove? I could take off the parcel shelf but what about wing mirrors? Maybe I should start a new thread about 'Scrapping a Skoda'?
  3. I've had my Fabia for 10 years (2001 model) and when I have needed tyres I usually go to the tyre place and they fit them. Sadly, my Skoda has too many problems to bother putting it through its MOT (at least £300 to pass but other work too, including motor for the window - it has cardboard wedged in it to stop it falling down. Time to say goodbye! Anyway, I recently had all 4 tyres replaced (2 in December and the other 2 just last month). I've put a deposit on a used car (2006 Citroen C3) and, before I scrap the car, I thought I'd see if the new Skoda tyres were compatible with the Citroen. I used a couple of websites where you can enter your number plate to see the size of tyres your car takes (Blackcircles and Halfords) and both websites say my car takes 165/70 R14 but I noticed that my receipt says the tyres fitted are 185/60 R14 so I went out to check them. 4 very new 185/60 R14 tyres. Have I been driving round with the wrong size tyres or are they compatible? (unfortunately the Citroen needs 185/60 R15 - not that I understand what the numbers all mean) or were they OK? I need to take the poor car to the scrap yard but ask them to take the wheels off so I can sell them! Can anyone shed any light on the subject? Thank you!
  4. After all this rain I have a puddle in my passenger footwell. I need to do some investigating. Not that I know but I'm suspecting there's been a problem for a while as all during winter I had to defrost the inside of my windows as well as the outside. Time to find out more info.
  5. I guess I'll see if I can live with it now I've lowered the seat down to the floor, after all, I've only had the car 2 weeks. It's not making me a danger on the road, it's just a slight niggle I might get used to. Strangely enough, it was far better when we had all that rain last week.
  6. Been told I'm 20/20 vision with a slight weekness in the left! How the heck is that 20/20? Anyway, my friend came out for a drive and she's noticed the distorted windscreen too. I've put my seat flat to the floor and that's made it a bit better so I'll see if I get used to it. Thanks for all your help folks. xx
  7. I'm going to my friend's house tomorrow (after my eye test) so I'll get both her and her hubby to drive it.
  8. Actually, I'm quite the oposite, 5'9" tall, and my eyeline is above mid windscreen. I do tend to 'pump' up the seat to help me sit more upright so maybe I should take the seat back down again, although It feels so low down ( I also drive Merc 3.5 ton van). I'll give it a try, thanks.
  9. Got to go to work but will bring in the manuals when I get home later tonight. thanks for your help.
  10. Hey, I didn't do too bad, I got to keep my daughter who, thinking about it, has probably cost me so much I could probably have bought another 10 Fabias!!:P I think she's missed our car while it's out of action more than I have... mum's taxi is so much cheaper than a real one bringing her home from the nightclubs!
  11. Yes, I bought the car last Saturday. Apart from a problem with the windscreen (see my other post :( ) I love it. Still not sure of all it's features yet. Can't see that mine has the 'trip computer' thingy, tried to store our local radio station but need to study the manual again and can't seem to change the clock/thermometer to show time while driving rather than temperature. I guess there are so many different models and maybe mine doesn't do these things. I'll have time tomorrow afternoon to get the manuals out and see. Thanks for asking.
  12. Well, I went ahead and bought the 51 plate Fabia I'd seen a couple of weeks ago but I have a problem. The windscreen is giving me a headache! When I look through the windscreen I can only liken it to maybe needing new glasses, although I've never needed glasses in my life! I never had any problems with my Rover 200 and I don't have any problems driving at work (I drive Merc van for ASDA Home Shopping). I've only been driving the car for a week and, even though I know I don't need to, I'm booking an eye test (free cos I work for ASDA). I also feel a very slight dizziness after driving my Fabia, although I might add that it is only slight and I'm not at any risk of feinting or anything. Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this problem or has any advice for me? Don't want to get rid of the car! Thanks.
  13. Thanks guys... It shows I don't know much about the car at all! HPI check says it's 8V. Don't know what difference 8 or 16 V makes though. The seller's advert doesn't tell me much, don't even know if it has a CD player but I'm guessing not. I was originally looking to buy a Toyota Yaris (hired one once for 3 weeks and loved it) but I seem to get a newer Fabia for the same money. I'll print off your comments and add them to the ones I already have. Thanks.
  14. Hi all, As recommended by someone on MSE, I've joined your forum. I'm going to look at, and hopefully buy, a Skoda Fabia 1.4 Comfort tomorrow. It's a 51 plate with 43,000 miles on the clock. I've been told it has no major dents or scratches and I've done a (partial) HPI check which, with the only info I had, is clear - don't know VIN number or V5 reg doc serial number yet but will ring to add the information tomorrow. My husband and I don't have much mechanical experience and have been asking on the MSE website for advice on what we should look for. I'll paste the advice given so far below but if anyone can add anything else I'd be grateful. Thanks.
