Battery and Solid Amber Check Engine Light
Hi! 2013 2l Diesel 5e5 and yesterday and the day before it needed a jumpstart first thing in the morning. Yesterday had the extra fun of a the check engine light coming on, but it didn't appear on the return trip, nor today. Battery voltage was 12.24 last night, and 12.14 twelve hours later. 14.67 when running, so the alternator is fine (phew). Start/Stop says energy consumption is too high. All this means I need a new battery right? (can't find my OBD2 reader just in case someone suggests that too). Battery SOC ranged from 70-90% yesterday and today it was 50%. Though it didn't need a jumpstart today.

Rear light assembly T25 screw.
Hello all! I have had to replace a brake light and during the process mashed the T25 screw, not enough to render it useless, but enough to make me want to replace it. Does anyone happen to know the size? Or a way to find out without having to take the whole assembly off again? (It's a pain to put back)

New very happy owner of a MK3 2L DSG Estate...
Thank you for the replies, and yeah I did a search and you're right that there are many, but it became pretty monumental to sort through what I was looking for, sorry for the lazy behavior. You've answered my main concerns though thank you, I'll look at the better halogen bulbs, I love the Phillips and Osram H7s so I'll go with those thanks.

New very happy owner of a MK3 2L DSG Estate...
Lights are a little boring, how easy is it to switch from Halogen to LED. Or, is it possible to swap out standard light cluster with those of the VRS? (Because damn I love the VRS lights). While I'm here, I'm getting a Light Assist Fault, this is related to high beam assist right? Any idea on what could be causing it? Also, the luggage cover doesn't want to retract anymore, anyone know how to get the thing apart to see if I can fix the issue?

About to buy an Octavia MK3 1.6 TDI DSG.
Thanks. I did a check on the Skoda site and this is how it responded, but I don't know if it means the engine wasn't impacted by the cheating and therefore needed a fix, or if the fix was applied and therefore I need take no further action (in the eyes of VAG at least).

How does the emissions fix effect consumers? And specifically in this case? It wasn't something I was clued up on.

About to buy an Octavia MK3 1.6 TDI DSG.
I'm nervous about the DSG DQ200 gearbox. The car has been looked after, at 86k miles. Good service history, had the DSG software adjustment when the service campaign (34H5 I think) went around. Wanted some thoughts on it. It's probably fine, right? First car after the old one I got from the parents after learning so it's the first time spending this kind of money on anything other than a house so I'm acutely aware nerves will be higher. It's this one btw https://www.motors.co.uk/car-58726098/?i=6&m=sr

SKODA Octavia 2013 (63 reg) 1.6 TDI DSG Oil Change
Hello again! I'm looking at potentially buying the Octavia mentioned above and I know it has a sealed DSG and dry clutch but noticed on the service history the DSG oil has been changed at around 68k and 90k miles. Is this something that will adversely effect the car? I know Skoda says the oil doesn't need to be changed, but the seller was told by mechanics that there's no harm in doing so and it can be beneficial.

2014 Skoda Octavia MK3 2.0L TDI 7 Speed DSG
Just spoke directly to Skoda and it's confirmed as a wet clutch. Thank you all for the help, amazingly fast replies. Going to be sticking around this place Now to figure out what to do about the car linked above. Probably walk away if I'm sensible. Or ask for further clarification

They shared the service history when I asked. I've had a look through and I see no specific mention of a DSG oil change which is why I asked them

2014 Skoda Octavia MK3 2.0L TDI 7 Speed DSG
That's really helpful thank you, is it possible to see where the dsg oil is drained from beneath the car? If so I'll see if I can get them to take a photo to confirm. I get the feeling if I question the assertion (quoting them exactly): "It’s dry clutch DSG 7 speed . It does not need oil change service. Wet clutch are old ones that needed oil change." they might get funny about it.

2014 Skoda Octavia MK3 2.0L TDI 7 Speed DSG
Hello! New to the forum, and hopefully new to owning a Skoda but I have a question or two that I'd love some help/advice with. I'm eyeing up a 64 plate Octavia with 2l TDI auto and the seller (used car sales type) informs me it's a 7 speed dry clutch and therefore doesn't need an oil change, I just wanted to confirm with you fine people if this is likely/true etc. Also it has 90k+ miles on it and wondered thoughts on that. Price is in excess of £6500. Regards Keiran
