Alternative ‘Cheap’ Wheels for a VRS Estate?
Yeah I suspect they might be a bit high but tbh, I’m after temporary winter wheels to deal with the pothole-strewn mess that are Devon’s greenlanes pretending to a proper roads in the winter. They’re not exactly VRS alloy friendly! might be useful for a forthcoming trip to the Pyrenees too!

Alternative ‘Cheap’ Wheels for a VRS Estate?
Should a set of Audi C6 225/55 17s fit on a VRS? A friend has offered me a set cheap? or are they too wide?

Alternative ‘Cheap’ Wheels for a VRS Estate?
I had a feeling Merc on Skoda might evoke some emotions! The VW set are my preference too, just need to check they fit, are not crap and see if I can get them any cheaper!

Yeah, I’m basically trawling Marketplace but it’s slimming pickings down in the deep dark south west. Something like these

Alternative ‘Cheap’ Wheels for a VRS Estate?
Thanks for the input chaps. Plenty of second hand sets of 17s for Skoda/VW in this neck of the woods so I’m tempted to find a set of those with decent tyres on for the winter and then get the proper rims checked and sorted. Anything to watch out for in terms of wheel size beyond the obvious correct PCD?

Alternative ‘Cheap’ Wheels for a VRS Estate?
Need some input on wheels please chaps! My VRS runs on standard 18s that have been painted (badly) in the past. Last couple months I’ve been having issues with tyres losing pressure but not going entirely flat. Finally got our local tyre place to check them and there are apparently issues and they have suggested removing the tyres and sorting out the inside of the rims where they suspect the rubbish paint finish is the issue. £30 a corner. Thing is, I’ve been wondering about having the wheels resprayed properly for a while now and wondered if this now might be the time? And for ease I’m contemplating buying a cheap set of standard Octavia wheels/tyres to use while they’re being done with the potential that these are then used in the future as winter wheels. The low profile tyres are a bit of a PIA in the grotty, muddy, salty winter months, especially if I’m forking out for a proper respray. Anyone else have issues with ‘leaking’ alloys like this? Thoughts on cheap wheel options?

aftermarket wheels thread
Tooks me ages to find this thread again, rubbish at searching but I knew it was here somewhere and didn't want to start a new thread! My Octavia is current running on standard VRS 18's that have been painted black, while plenty seem to like them I can't quite get on board with them looking that way. I'm thinking about having them painted silver but use the car daily so having with all 4 wheels off is a bit awkward! These 18's have come up locally withe correct 5x112 PCD but I don't know much about them for fitting to the Octavia but I do like the style! Any thoughts or experience? Thanks

2014 VRS TSI Estate: Quantum Red Remap to 310bhp?
Having driven it for a month now, albeit reduced miles, the clutch is definitely slipping if you try and launch it or just plant your right foot which is a shame. Day to day driving it's fine though so I'll stick with it for now. I would be interested to get it on a local rolling road (they specialise in Japanese stuff but have taken a look at my Mini before so I'm sure they'll be fine with the VRS!) to see what it really makes and maybe even consider a slight detune but I'm a bit concerned that the clutch will be an issue.

Hello from VRS Octavia Mklll New Owner
First drive out and I caught an alloy, no surprise there! I’m still very undecided on the black, there’s a set of 5x112 18 Inovit Sonics on FB with decent tyres in silver, which I’m tempted by. Logistically (if not cheaper) I guess it easier buying a new set and selling/paints the old ones than respirating an existing set of wheels?

2014 VRS TSI Estate: Quantum Red Remap to 310bhp?
Yes, this was sort of my point, 5-10 years ago when diesels were in their hey day there were not a of choice on the petrol market. I was coming from a 2.5 V6 Alfa into the VRS and short of spending big money I can't afford there weren't too many options, a few high mileage Audi's perhaps.

2014 VRS TSI Estate: Quantum Red Remap to 310bhp?
I’m afraid it wasn’t a specialist, just a normal local dealer. I think once life opens up a little more some investigation will be in order...

2014 VRS TSI Estate: Quantum Red Remap to 310bhp?
Cheers folks. Good to know about the clutch, it’s not going to get hammered anyway, the car was purchased for rapid family wagon (why does no one make decent fast petrol estates anymore?) duties and not traffic light GPs! Also an excellent point in the insurance, I’ll have to give them a shout. Although my main issue is that I’ve got absolutely no details on what’s been modified as no paperwork was supplied about it and the dealer mentioned nothing about it. It’s only pure chance that was talking to the previous owner before Christmas and realised it was the same car.

2014 VRS TSI Estate: Quantum Red Remap to 310bhp?
Morning chaps and ladies, Does anyone have any info on this remap? I am a proud owner of a 2014 VRS estate in a fetching race blue and I’m very happy with it so far despite the lockdown enforced limited driving so far! In a slightly odd situation although I purchased it from a local dealer, I am also in contact with the previous owner who part ex’ed it to the dealer. He seems a decent chap who’s looked after it and informs me that it has been remapped with a Quantum Red remap and is making about 300+. Thing is there was no paper work about this with the car and the dealer never mentioned it, has any body any info and any suggestions as to where I can find some info? Is there anything mechanically I should be aware of running a remapped VRS? Paperwork says a new clutch/flywheel was fitted last year. It’s a manual of that makes a difference? Thanks for any help everyone!

Hello from VRS Octavia Mklll New Owner
Well that bodes well. I am not planning on going too hard on it regularly so hopefully it will survive! When the time comes I guess we’ll look at some sort of upgrade. Ah yes, PH is a regular haunt, the online car community is a small world. It’s been a very useful resource when trying to find a good replacement for the Alfa. The purchase wasn’t supposed to happen so quickly but the Alfa’s had a problem or two and this came up very local. Hopefully I’ve not rushed into it. It’s impressing me so far.

Hello from VRS Octavia Mklll New Owner
It’s a petrol TSI as I don’t do many miles, even out of lockdown. The remap is the main thing I’m interested in finding more about at the moment, apparently it’s a Quantum Red (?) and makes about 310bhp but I noticed it had a new clutch last year so I’m hoping it’s not over stressed. Need to find a bit more info on here if I can. No plans to alter at this point although the alloys are still debatable. Also, it needs mats!!

Hello from VRS Octavia Mklll New Owner
Afternoon all! Collected my first Skoda (or any VAG motor in fact) this morning and so far very impressed! Ive been looking for a quick, large petrol estate to replace and ageing but much loved Alfa 156 V6. Manufacturers don’t build a lot of large quick petrol estates anymore so the Octavia VRS quickly became the first choice. Not many around in my £10k budget until this appeared locally a few weeks ago. Ironically it had been for sale privately on Facebook before Christmas so I knew a little about it. 2014, 60k on the clock, manual. Part leather red trim inside. Interestingly it apparently has a 310bhp Quantum Red remap so a bit of investigation there is needed, any info welcome. No plans for it at the moment beyond family wagon duties except for the alloys, can’t decide if I’m on board with the black. Respray/replace or go full black pack and put the mirrors and grill on to match? Thoughts? Anyway, that’s the story so far, nice to find a good community here, looking forward to getting stuck in. Hi! Sorry about the badly shared photos! Used the wrong format!
